my friend hit a deer on her Bonneville a few months ago. she is fine, but the bike needs some tweaking/new parts bolted on - headlight, directionals, footpeg etc.
she bought the parts and i told her id put it together for her.

heres the question: they live about a hundred miles from here so ill be bringing some of my tools with me. what are the common fasteners? would i be safe just taking a metric set of sockets (5-10mm), allens, and a few extensions?
i thinking there probably wont be any surprises right?

Hope she's OK.

Anything you would use on a UJM (with carbs?) and good to go. Only significant thing to consider taking with would be the 13 and 15 mm sockets/wrenches (not used OEM on Japanese stuff for the most part; they stick to 12 and 14 mm) - I'm guessing you probably have that already as part of what you're taking. I would take hex bit drivers, torque wench, etc.

Very easy to service, and there are few "specialty" tools needed (almost entirely for the engine) - none of which you should need.

Maybe obvious, fork (Japanese BTW) and wheel straightness would be my first concern.

Good luck!

Triumph does not use torque bits. Pretty standard hex and standard wrenches. Bring lock-tite and zip ties too. If you are doing the headlight unit, bring a voltage meter too.

They are very easy bikes to work on.
