Yes. New engine. Now few months to wait for new SD and few years to wait until prices will drop...

I like the look of the instrument cluster....look at the last line under favorites.

Remotely adjustable damping settings??? That would be nice on the SD having presets for freeway/twisties/track??

quote from Adventure rider forum:

Tech Specs and Ride Impressions
I read the article in the (print edition) of "Motorrad" magazine in the meantime (teaser here: http://www.motorradonline.de/artikel...nture-r/421395).

Tech Specs of the 1190 Adventure R are:

- Detuned 75 degree V-twin from RC8
- 150 HP at 10'000 RPM
- 230 kg with a full tank of 24 liters
- 21 inch front wheel, 18 inch rear wheel
- Seat hight 840 mm
- Dual 300 mm discs front brake
- 265 mm disc rear brake
- Traction control with 2 modes: Sport/Road (full power), Offroad/Rain (power limited to 100 HP)
- ABS, with offroad mode (i.e. no ABS on rear brake, limited slip of front wheel possible)
- Ride by wire

Ride impressions:

- Engine is fantastic, smooth power at bottom end, mighty punch in midrange, endless power at high RPM
- Engine is miles ahead of current 990, much better at bottom end, lots more power
- Slight vibes above 7500 RPM
- Power delivery at high RMP similar to Multistrada, but much better at low RPM and midrange
- Suspension is top-notch, handling is excellent, steering very precise

The bike was ridden by the editor in chief of "Motorrad", together with Philipp Habsburg, development manager of KTM. Habsburg says the goal is to build the best adventure bike in its class, period. There will be also an 1190 Adventure (without the "R"), with 19/17 inch wheels and less travel, which is more road orientated. Both bikes will be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan (November 15 to 18) and be available at dealers in March 2013.

Personally, I'll certainly test-ride the bike when it's available next spring. I currently own a 990 SMT and I look forward to see that engine in a 1190 SMT. If it can replace my 990 SMT and my 690 Enduro remains to be seen...

150hp in the Advneture Glad to hear its a 1190 and not 1290. Should keep worriers on here a bit happier. You know they will be squeezing a few more ponies out of it for the SD. We could be looking at 160/165? Sounds like electronic aids are coming but just as long as there is an off switch I can live with it. Also sounds like WP has some new suspension for us. Have to say I'm excited by these tech specs.

I really like it, I mean it all sounds great and all, may keep me from buying a multistrada. Price won't really be a factor for me as I have been thrilled with my ktm. It's no cheap bike, it's a premium entry and it will carry a premium price, at first! Makes me keen to see it in the flesh.

I wonder if there will be a no tickets mode under favorites.
She's gonna be a screamer. BassAgent needs to wait and get the first one.
I read Austin is back on the calender, perhaps that ticket can be used for the first Texas Moto GP and a new bike purchase afterall.
I want one. SuperLotto quick pick here I come

Having just read the report in the paper it looks like it could be pretty good , lightest in its class , and not a massive engine , dont think big exhausts are going anywhere soon , however it makes you optimistic about the future SD
It just better be next year and not the feckin year after , that would be unforgiveble....and I would buy something else instead

Umm... I guess that's everything as expected.
I wonder where the oil is? Not by any chance in an octagonal shaped spine passing under/through the fuel tank.
Anyone know?

Aftermarket exhaust manufactures can and will comply with the new regs. Of course it will cost a shit load to demonstrate compliance and these costs will be passed on to the consumers.

Things I like:

-Stock engine specs
-The fact that its a detuned RC8 engine. A few breathing mods and RC8R cams makes some sick power.
-The new headlight. A little more modern without losing the menacing face of the current SD.

Things I don't like:

-The new clocks. Boooooring.
-KTM seems to be going with a side-mounted exhaust. Just not as cool as an under-tail or shorty like the RC8.
-I'm not strictly against electronic aids, but they're bound to increase the price.

You can't ride a picture or a spec sheet though. And this almost has to mean that a new SD is right around the corner. For the most part it seems like KTM is on the right track. Every article I've read about the new 690 Duke says it did not disappoint. I know I'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

I actually don't think I prefer either now I've ssen it from the side. Looks like a Suzuki.

I'm starting to get worried again about the SD. That seat height is too low.
