Oh how I laughed to read in MCN this week, in the section where all the journos get to write about their bike for this year, that they haven't been able to get delivery of their 1290 from KTM. Poor guy had to make do with a well abused test model in the mean time.
KTM - hopeless, you can't even supply enough bikes for the mags to promote for you.

They have plenty of bikes ready to go! It seems they have been having problems with engine assembly as every time they put the valve shims in they keep on falling out!
Someone at KTM suggested to glue them in but the managing department said this could end up putting them in a sticky situation!

Bic, how does availability effect you?
You're on record as not wanting a 1290 at any cost.

My comments about the 1290 are really mostly about the KTM brand and experience they are providing through their dealers and my views about the way they have managed the launch of this bike. And of course this brand is nothing without a product and in KTMs case this is the new bike so they are connected.
I think it's all a big farce and the bike disappoints me. (In many ways, price, finish, aesthetics, to name a few) I was always planning to get the new SD when it was finally launched but I won't now. And I'm glad I didn't jump the gun and get on a waiting list last year.
I have realised that there are far more other things that I want from a bike other than power and torque and this new bike fails to deliver on many of my must have requirements.
I've nothing against the bike or the people who've got one and love it. But I won't fawn over it like everyone seems to expect from all SD owners. I'm not jealous or bitter or anything.
I'm disappointed that I'm disappointed.
