Well after a while with no problems, my 1290 decided to remind me of ktm's reliability. Twice it has dumped coolant from the reservoir tank. The first time I thought maybe I put to much in the reservoir even though the manual says to fill it between the minimum and full mark. So after it dumped some the first time (2 short rides ago) it didn't repeat on the following ride, even after letting it get hot. So I figured maybe it found its "happy" reservoir level after the dumping. Well today it greated me with more coolant dumping. Errrr
To add, the 1290 has 21,000 miles and has had the coolant changed twice since it has had to have a leaking clutch cover that was to porous changed twice.

Bummer, I've had this happen to 3 of my bikes (all were Suzuki's), and everytime it was a blown head gasket pressurizing the coolant system, have seen a freinds do it also and his was a bubble of air in the system after not being bleed properly after a coolant change, hopefully that's what yours is!

Speaking of reliability it is disappointing that KTM's have so many niggly problems after charging the prices they do, have to say that Suzuki's have been the worst for me tho, I've had 11 of them but never again! Ktm is a close second but at least they're nice enough to ride that I haven't given up on them yet! As for Honda's they're freakin awesome, I can take my cbr600rr track bike out and wring the living daylights out of it, destroy the tyres then park it in the garage till next time and I know it'll be good to go again (apart from changing the tyres that is) Take the ktm out for a 60km blat and there'll be sure to be some oil or coolant leaking from somewhere or it ran funny or made weird noises or something to drive me nuts!
