So had my first ride on an E-Bike today....a 2015 Zero S (9.4),
My new boss offered to let me take it for a quick spin during lunch: )

Observations..
Very torquey
Really quiet, just wind noise.. kept on checking it was turned on when about to take off. No ICE rpms to gauge speed but its not hard to judge without speedo. Display is easy to see and read too.
Battery drains quickly (suits commuting better than highway use)
No clutch - kept on grabbing a non existent lever..lol
No Gears.. kept on going to change down gears to engine brake
Brakes decent. Not sure about the handing as I took it easy around bends etc.
60-100kmh acceleration outstanding !
It certainly is the way of the future especially given the very low running costs. Once they come down in price they will sell 1000's.
I've been seriously thinking of doing a cheap conversion (SV650 / GS500 or similar) to commute with. Saving the SD990 for the weekend

Thanks for your report - it is the way of the future whether we like it or not
Theres no doubt about their potential they just have to sort battery technology and there will be no stopping the progressive changes ahead.
I fondly remember racing a ducati 900 super sport in the old days then thrashing highly modes katana's around the tracks and thinking they would be hard to top, now look what bikes like the 1290 are doing. Thats progress - I just wasn't smart enough to keep the many old bikes I had because they would be worth a pretty penny these days.
But being old school there is nothing like a strong grumpy v-twin combustion engine to keep me interested - for now anyway.

Be giving this a miss for as long as possible, probably have no choice in the future.
But if I had to have one it would have to be a V-Twin.

Where in Brisbane can you have a look at one?
Wouldn't mind having a closer look
