As I told in my presentation, I'm french, but I want to leave my country this year, and i want to live in Australia.
I was wondering if you had tips for me, because I don't want to stop the motorcycle (better if I have nice roads and tracks not far from home )
I'm working in the wine industry, and I'm looking for jobs as viticultist (responsible of the vinyard). Of what I found, the best region seems to be the Victoria region... What could you tell me about the climate that I didn't found on the web ? (I actually live in Bordeaux, I think the climate is a little bit warmer, and dryer than in Bordeaux)
Any advices about the visa, or something else ?
Thank you very much guys !

Good luck with the move. We're thinking of retiring there in about 10 years

Where are you living now ? And why in 10 years ??
I forgot an important detail : my girlfriend works in the food industry, so this is another obligation for us...

10 years from now I should be retiring with a bit of luck, although my daughter will be 15 and wanting to go to college, no doubt. We'll see how it goes.
If I were you I would contact the Australian Embassy in Paris to find out what's needed to move to Oz. It may be simple if you have the right skills and qualifications.

First thing to do is have a look at immigration website as suggested above. See if your job is in demand, if yes, you're basically in.
If not, you have to come over here and depending on your age see if you can get a work visa. If yes, go and apply for jobs in the wineries.
Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia all have wine regions. Mornington peninsula, Barrosa valley, McLaren Vale to name a few.
After you done a good job see if they want to sponsor you to stay.
Climate is never a straight answer as places are big here. Melbourne as they say has 4 seasons in one day and can be very hot (like recent 40plus) to cold and rainy in winter.
Further up the state it's dryer. SA is dry but can be cooler is winter. Perth never gets really cold but can be hot in summer.
There are people on the forum from SA, WA and Vic and they can give you probably more information. I lived in Vic, SA, NT and Qld so I know a bit.
For riding there are good roads in Vic and SA but be aware of the cops. Speeding in Australia is a worse crime than murdering a dozen innocent people.
Other places have long and straight roads, not superduke country really.
If yo need more info, ask.

Speaking of rain it has been a dry 6 months or more but in the last week or two we have had a good drop

Whitesoul, go to Indonesia jump on a boat and sail to Australia. They will accommodate you for a year or two and if you dont like it you will get a return journey free of charge.
Seriously though trying to settle in Oz appears to be fairly difficult and time consuming (can take years). A mate of mine has been trying for months to get his Vietnamese girlfriend here on a tourist visa for a holiday, after 70 pages of application later he is still waiting.
WA has a good wine growing region but not great for bikes. Summer gets fairly hot but you can ride all year round.
Give it a go, you might get lucky.

So my plans are a little bit clearer now. I'm coming to Perth on early january. I'll work near Margaret River, around Dunsborough.
My question is : How could I find a place to stay for the cheapest possible ? I checked on AirBNB, but I'd like to know if there are other websites, to have the biggest range of choice.
Other question : any race tracks in this area ? i found one in Perth, but it'll be more than 250km far from my place...
Thanks guys

As for race tracks, there is a small one at Collie maybe 100+km away. I havent ridden it but most guys seem to like it. No big straights, so easier to keep up with the bigger bikes.
Oh and bring a hat and sunscreen, it tends to get a bit warm that time of the year. UV here in winter is about the same as Europe in summer and goes through the roof at that time of the year. Cook you in no time.

For the accomodations, there is no way i'd live in a caravan... We found interesting things in Perth on airbnb, but almost nothing near my work... I'll try to see with my boss...
