Beam Headlights

I'm contemplating binning the headlight and all the front fairing on my '07 bike and fabricating a simple carbon number board - like the early style of proddy racers had to run.

But I need a street legal headlight so was thinking about getting one of these minimal round projection headlights that streetfighter guys fit.

Does anyone know anything about them and what I have to look out for when selecting the best one. A Quick tour of the web shows there's so much choice and a lot of it is cheap crap. I just want a quick learning curve to take me to the experts choice for quality/headlight power/looks.

No bling, no blue lcd surround, no chrome/plastic mounts. Just an understated hemispherical glass feature that will sit flush onto the number plate.

Any advice? Off to buy a Streetfighter magazine for inspiration.

Was thinking along these lines...

Or this ?...

I always thought that the SD headlight was the outdated part of the bike.
I've being looking for a replacement for over a year now but it needs to have e decent bean so I can drive at night if needed.
I thought about the EXC headlight but in order to keep the ignition lock and the clocks, it would have to be too forward and look weird. I can make some type of bracket to hold the clocks (maybe just above the handlebars) but I really would like to keep the key lock.
I have a dual bates and a single round headlight at home but I don't think it will match the bike's lines (I had on a streetfighter).
I need something that can hide the wiring (like the EXC fairing) but that not stick too far out and has some kind of HID (maybe).
I am open for ideas.....

This is the kind of thing I was after.

But I seem to think that you can get a single lens that has the dip/main beam all in one. Does anyone know of this is true/available? I'm searching the net through all sorts of ways but so far no luck.

Would you also consider modifying one of the race blanks for the Duke http://www.perfect-fairings.com/en/prod ... fairing_17 with a different lighting configuration of your choice? Kind of an updated version along the lines of the 1290 prototype. http://blog.derestricted.com/wp-content ... 0_r_07.jpg retains the good looks of the original.

Just install it correctly. http://cdn2.bikesevolution.com/photos/a ... _5f053.jpg

You could always try running something like this Image Just a number plate with a small light bar under it.

I like that too, very clean. All of the electronics could go between the ecu and the steering tube inside that little space in the frame.

Any headway on this, Bic? Had a vision myself on making a projector fit through a race mask or seeing if Adam could create a carbon headlight housing to fit with those headlight panels he already makes.

From memory there is a rectangular version of this made by the same company that was designed so that a racing number vinyl overlay could be added with holes cut for the lights.

My 2 cents on projector beams. I was going to use them on my SD build but took for ever to get to my address after order made, so I have a new set sitting in my spare parts bin. A stock Adventure headlight showed up so that's what I used, same as the SD. Main reason not to use projector beams is oncoming traffic has a harder time seeing the projector beams. I have them on my ST4S Ducati. My buds tell my lights are not on, when they are. Traffic infraction for no lights here in Oregon.
Another option is the LED lights you will see on the Adventure bikes. They are bright, which is a good thing for the blue hair drivers who want to make the left hand turn in front of you.

Here is a buds Adventure with the LED lights for comparison.

They really help out the stock headlight.
