Got a few hours on the bike today. Thought I'd blast up to Box Hill as it's only 15 miles from me and I felt like mingling with bikers and hot tea and a crap burger. Had a fast ride there, wheelie practice and stoppie madness, the first really dry roads of the year for me - but it was still freezing cold.
But when I got there I was disappointed. There was little to see in the way of great bikes, most of the carpark was full of pretend cruisers and boring tourers. Most of the riders were in yellow dayglo jackets and Sam Browne belts chatting with the load of police bike riders who had lined up their hideous coloured police bikes right in the middle of the park. Everyone seemed to be over 60. All the girls were ugly. Maybe it was me being on a downer but I was slightly embarrassed by UK bikers today.
