I went for 18 months without a bike due to the 1290 coming out. I sold my 990 knowing I wanted a 1290 but tried to stay ahead of the game by dropping it prior to the 1290 release.

You will be fine, advertise locally and be patient.

Hang in there, you'll be fine. The price is right. You need to see if you can remove the caveat around the idle issue. It certainly is not the last thing you want someone thinking about after you described all of the bikes plusses. I think this type of bike has a following and an interest to few, not many, and as such is going to take many more hits before the person that just has to have it comes forth. Hang in there its only money.

I listed mine for $6500 CAD earlier this year, with more mods and lower mileage. Sold in a day.
I've seen three SDRs sit locally for months because they were drastically overpriced, especially compared to their peers (Triples, Fz9s, etc).
I think you'l sell just fine, though one thing I might suggest is not listing all the maintenance you've done in the ad. Sure, have it for inquiries, but hitting people off the top with that reminds them it's a nine-year-old bike with nine-year-old problems.
I'm sure you'll sell it; these bikes have great pedigrees and someone will scoop it up at that price.
