Chain adjuster question

Adjusting my chain yesterday with the stock components made me realise that it's a pretty crude system for alignment - I can't actually see any marks on the swingarm so it's all done by eye. Fancy looking for some nice aftermarket, machined components with better accuracy and adjustment mechanism.

Anyone recommend a good brand? They have to be available in natural or black finish - non of this orange anodised bollox.

I know that KTM Twins do something called a Zyp-tie or something but wondered if there was anything else.

I use this to ''check'' wheel alignment.....like all good ideas simple and easy to use

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Dr ... 0270899870

Clamps on sprocket and you adjust until bar / chain run lines up .......and the jobs done

I first used on my R1 trackbike and found it was way out (so much so I doubted the gauge) .....huge difference in high speed stability ...and the bike was arrow straight afterwards

The bikes not going to be arrow straight with that.

Bic, get a decent chain lazer alignment tool. That will at least make sure the rear sprocket is in line with the motor in the frame . .

To get the bike straight you'll have to check alignment from front to rear wheels.

The motor has to be straight in the frame, the rear wheel in the swingarm, the swingarm in the frame, the forks in the yokes, then the front wheel to rear wheel.

Your after blingy adjustment blocks though. I'm sure some of the American guys on here have fitted some.

Didn't someone on here recently make up their own laser alignment tool with 2 laser pens, a block of wood and a rule in the front wheel?

Can't do a search for you at the mo as am on my crappy phone.

You can always use string, low tech but effective.

A friend of mine with a specialized motorcycle tyres shop also prefers the 'low tech' version over the laser ones, easier to use and more reliable he says. Will order that one, thanks for the link!

Is there ANY chain adjuster on the market for SD?
Set of: http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/sc ... roduct=637 would be perfect...

I have been using a laser for 15 years, quick, simple, accurate, cost is spread over multiple bikes.

Supermotoo Engineering makes a nice axle adjuster with a bobbin slider.I have used them for years and use a vernier to measure the gap. They come in black as well as many other colours.Cheers.
