Jack,

I had a higher KTM screen on my 990 and I removed it. I did not think it made any difference on the wind blast (I'm 1,81m) and I was not keen on the looks. I went back to the stock shield that basically keeps the wind off my balls.

I'm also debating on what to do regarding Engine case covers.

I was just looking at Amazon.com and there is a set of carbon fiber engine case covers coming from china, I think they would take 4-6 weeks shipping but they are only $44 and $60 for engine/ clutch sides. I've never bought stuff directly from China.

Best of luck!

I have a clear clutch cove on my Superduke, it is from cj designs he has several options, from full clear to spoked to swirl and half window. I get compliment on mine all the time. There are photos of it on, what have you done to your superduke lately, on page 119.

I actually like the touring screen for long trips. It really sucks for two up riding though, the higher screen creates a slip stream at head level then it causes your passengers helmet to get stuck behind yours. It makes your head feel like a rudder.

The OE cover survives crashing well. It's also cheaper than any aftermarket solution shown. That's not to suggest that many aftermarket solutions aren't handsome.

You guys go on and on about crashability and survivability ... Do you really think that if you were to crash in a way to where it would grind through an OE cover - that with some heavy, overbuilt cover and/or protector that wouldn't necessarily grind through (most are untested) - that the bike would otherwise be rideable and that YOU would be able to ride it? You're kidding yourselves. Seriously.

See-through is bling, offering nothing additional functionally. If that appearance is important to you (that is, others able to see the clutch spin around when the bike is parked and engine running)- go for it. Want to see the clutch? Buy a dry-clutch Ducati. Somehow when I see one of these windowed clutch covers, I am always reminded of these:

Philosphical question: Why do so many people buy naked bikes, and then want to put effective windscreens on them?

I hate the touring screen as it reduces wind to my chest but increases wind noise and essential noise fatigue in my ears!!!

I have the touring screen as well. I switched it back to stock after about a week. I honestly didn't notice any improvement in wind protection and it's not pretty. Thankfully it came with the bike otherwise I would have been pissed. Save your money brutha.
