Conti vs Bidgestone

So I used to get free Dunlops through work and didn't realise how good I had it til we lost that contact.

Now all I'm left with is two tyre manufacturers I have zero experience with outside of the shitty OEM Bridgestones on Yamaha's FZ8.

So has anyone used any of these tyres and have anything to say about them?

Bridgestone:

Hypersport S20 EVO

Hypersport S20

BT-016 Pro

Continental:

Conti Sport attack - Hypersport Radial

Conti Road Attack 2

I do a lot of mixed riding. Lots of freeway riding, lots of canyon riding (normally have to ride an hour or two to get to some good canyons).

Used to have bt016 on my r6, they are good when it's warm and wore pretty well, but old now. S21 bridge stones are out now http://www.mcnews.com.au/bridgestone-ba ... re-launch/ so might be worth a look. Not ridden on contis so can't comment.

I used to have thw S20s on my GSR. Good grip, good feedback but low mileage.
the S20Evo are emproved on that.

But recently the S21, successor to the S20, introduced and it said that it is improved overall. I think you should check it out.

For my recent tyre change, i was between S21 and something softer (D211).
I chose bridgestone's RS10 because D211 had a delevery time of one month.

I can't give you any feedback on RS10 cause i didn't fit it them yet.

In my opinion, S20 EVO or S21 would work for you.

I dunno man - are you mostly commuting on these buns, with the occasional romp in the twisties, or what? As in, what is "... a lot ..." of canyon riding? Both Sat. and Sun. every weekend, or once/month?

I ask as NONE of these is a great mileage tyre, and pissing way money if all you're doing is wasting the middle few inches of the tyre.

For hard sport riding, or novice/intermediate track riding - all fine, but the feel/feedback of the BT-016 Pros and S20s leave a lot to be desired IMO. I've not tried the "evos" .. Damn shame I didn't see this a month ago - I gave away some barely used BT-016 Pros ...

IMO, the Conti Road Attack 2 is probably the best all-rounder, if not the best priced. While not a dual/multi-compound, the construction is such that it effectively behaves like one. If you're grinding up the entire section of the tyre (edge-to-edge) - on the street - well, it's a choice; air down a bit, and any of these tyres will do the deed. If you're leaving 1/2" of chicken strips on the rear when the tyre is done - not only will likely live longer - but a sensible, longer wearing sport-touring tyre would be a better value. FWIW - one can ruin knee pucks on any of the name-brand contemporary, multi-compound sport touring tyres + get some serious miles out of them.
