Digital gear indicator

When I was out at the weekend I realised that having a quick-shifter and the full TI system mean that when you're really nailing it on fast roads it's easy to not know you're in top gear. You keep on trying to change up even though you're in top.

Was wondering if anyone has fitted a digital gear indicator to their SD? All I want really is something to tell me when I'm in top gear but I guess they all show the actual gear you are in at any one time.

Any specific make recommended?

And how and where do they fit - is it simple to plug them in or do they have to be fitted by someone who knows what they are doing with electronics? (Not me then)

Here is a plug and play deal. You'll want to look at the GIPro X-Type.

Hey Bic my son had one of those pro gear indicator on his R1 and it used to lag.
You would change gear and it would take a couple of seconds to catch up.

I got mine from eBay.

There's no delay on it. With the way works on the SD it shows 0 instead of N but as soon as you move 1mph it shows 1st. Only time i have problem is when wheeliying as the front wheel stops spinning and it confuses it a bit. Or if your rolling in 1st slowly and blipping the throttle it sometimes can confuse it a split second till it works out whats happening. I set it up at 4-500rpm, but apparently the higher up the revs you calibrate it them more accurate it is. No probs here though, even slamming up the box with the quickshifter it changes instantly, same with downshifting and blipping it sitill isn't enough to confuse it. Very impressed with it tbh.

The display on the listing with the shift lights isn't correct. It's actually better as the lights start from the outer edges as green and gradually come together to meet in the middle changing to orange as it comes closer then red when they meet and finally flashes at max shift point.

The gear number is displayed in black but you can change the background colour, green, blue, white, orange, red, purple. Adjust the shift light to whatever min or max point you like.

It is slighly bigger then the other ones i looked at but went with it as i wanted it at the top of the mask and in my line of vision. When your giving it some stick the shiftlights are at the bottom of your view so there's no need to glance down.

I've got the mask off the bike just now so was planning on taking a few pics his week of how its wired and posting a How To thread. It's only 4 wires to connect. Ignition live, earth, rpm, and speed signals.
