I'll wait around for the second generation. This one looks like Kiska got lazy and slapped the front half a Duke 390 on the ass end of a Duke 690 with some Superduke GT tank panels.

I hope it doesn't have the abysmal, non-adjustable and non-serviceable made-in-India crap suspension components like the 2017 690 Duke.
But I bet it will.
In the pics you can see it has no adjustments on the fork caps. None of the pics show the rear shock well enough to tell.

Sadly amazing radical concept bikes always get a bit watered-down when it comes to getting them production-ready... Homologation requirements for lights and number plates, Euro 4 emissions compliance, the addition of mirrors and indicators and the like result in the original bike reappearing in a somewhat neutered form. Unfortunately for the connoisseurs of top-drawer componentry it's entering a very tightly-contested class of middleweight twins, the current leader of which is Yamaha's MT-07 that manages to be perky and fun and yet they almost give them away, facilitated by it being cost-engineered right down.
The Duke 790 will probably be at the premium end of that market segment, but the inclusion of multi-adjustable suspension, top notch brakes, and lots of electronic rider aids won't make it any cheaper and I'm sure that KTM will have wrangled over what the market wants and needs, and what they can afford to include or omit. I'm off to the bike show at the NEC in Birmingham UK in a couple of weeks so I'm going to have a really good look at the 790, and hopefully it'll be appealing (and low!) enough to tempt my girlfriend away from the idea of getting another Monster....

I dream with an R version with full adjustable WP suspension, m50 calipers, qs + autoblipper and a little bit power.
Should be the perfect machine for mountains roads (on holligan mode xD)

That is so disappointing compared to the prototype, I'd even go as far to say it's freakin ugly, definitely the worst ktm I've seen : (

Suspenders are pretty basic. Preload adjustment on the rear is all there is.
Quickshifter for up and down as standard. As is launch and traction control.
169kg dry, 105hp@9000 rpm, 86Nm @ 8000 rpm.
Brakes are Ktm branded, so no brembo's.
Nothing about an R model her unfortunately.
There will be a 95hp A2 license friendly version though.

No surprise KTM have skimped on the suspension. The OEM WP on the 1290 isn't any good so this wasn't going to be either.
I'd like to see this engine in a super enduro. The 690 is a great bike but a 800cc twin would be epic!

The only thing I like about it is that it may finally make a good US Dirt Track motor now

aaannnddd did they forget to mention that it will be in the US as a 2019 model? so looks like it'll be a long wait for those that do like it.
and the 790 Adventure model was shown as a prototype with no ETA. I would guess 2020. W.T.F.

This pic got me all whooped up when I saw it and the 270 degree firing order seemed like a winner as well.
It looks fairly bland for Kiska and the high exhaust just looks wrong. Disappointing.

Why do I always think about this decades ago early '80's Suzuki when I see Kiska's designs of the past years?? Original thought,,,,,,,hmmmmmmmm maybe not so much eh?

How did it go from that to this!!!!!
The muffler is an abomination in that position. The front half is actually similar but at the rear the swingarm angle is much less. An R version with a longer shock to jack the rear end back up, single seat and underslung muffler could fix it.
