What do you guys think about it? 1290 performance numbers. The exhaust has to go. The mpg is insane. But I'm not digging it, doesn't wow me. I'm really waiting for the SX (naked bike). EBR is also racing the RX in World Superbike, that's cool.

Good grief! You Americans cannot design anything to look nice can you?

This bike is a hochpox pox of differing aesthetics that don't work together. It just looks to me like every other Buel from the last ten years that someone has crudely attempted to dress up with a ubiquitous Japanese fairing and tail unit. Horrible.

Patriots may buy it but no one else will.

Great to see a different product featuring a v twin, but it looks horrible. Who the fook would buy a yellow bike? It may be a good bike but there's not a lot of dealer support, I mean who carries these? Or do you have to buy therm on the interwebz ?

May be a very stupid question, but the last bike's they came out with used Rotax engine. Are they still doing that or are they building them in house now?

I've got nothing against Americans. But as a designer I have a professional and considered view about your cultural ability to style anything to look aesthetically nice. You had a great time in the 50's and influenced the world but ever since have failed. Remember, I see things from a European perspective, as does everyone who lives this side of the pond. If you've from the States, and it's all you've ever known, and you've grown up being unconsciously surrounded by ugly design everywhere from architecture to the the auto showroom and even down to the brands on supermarket shelves then you have a limited ability to appreciate aesthetics. I was married to a Californian and spent quite a lot of time in the States. It always pained me to look around and see the stuff you make and like and what people consider stylish or tasteful. Especially the way you do your interior decoration in your houses. The vast majority of you are basically aesthetically handicapped.

And no 'merican products could possibly compete esthetically on a world market.

How vulgar. No self respecting British designer would be caught dead using such crude machines.

Americans aren't designers.
I like twin cylinder motorcycles and presented with a chance to ride one, I will gladly abide. The Buell's sound as lovely as the KTM did on the Race Track last month. They are probably on the competitive equall to the KTM this year, but KTM has a bit better team and or rider. America purchases from all over the world and has tastefully decided to get designers here to raise the bar. The globe is shrinking and with compitition from outside, the need to succeed design wise grows more prevalent.

All Apple products are designed under the creative direction and vision of Jonathan Ive. Who is a British product designer.

But hey you had Raymond Loewy. Amazing designer who was so prolific in his day. Google him to see what he contributed to design. Truly inspirational to me.

Here's just a few things he was responsible for....

I think you're all smokin crack...the C7 Corvette is fooking bad-ass. I'd wager it'll compare favorably with any car costing twice as much as well. Serious bang for the buck.

Unfortunately with the shit roads we have to deal with these days I will not consider one...I'll be sticking to trucks for the foreseeable future as they can take the abuse the roads and I dole out.

Is the Buell motor the same they stuck in the V-Rod?
As far as American design goes, well, we keep trying.
We design coups in foreign countries to bolster our ability to move oil deposits west.
We design evidence to convince our people and others that a country is ready able and willing to use weapons of mass destruction against others.
We design credit default swaps to rid tiny ice ridden counties out of much of their retirement funds.
We got NSA designing algorithms to track any foreign or domestic communications that threaten our very secure existence.
We got a code system of various color coordinations that help our people know how scared they need be of terrorism.
Where our designers seem to be lacking is in the form of
Elected officials reaching a consensus to move acts through legislation to create the structures that Americans ask for.
Death by gun
Health care for its citizenry
Education
Raising its populace out of poverty'
I like Buell bikes and I am glad to see them out and about on the track and off.

The Zippo lighter is indeed a great bit of product design. I use one in presentations to demonstrate that powerful, memorable branding is best achieved with a combination of functional competence, ergonomics and honest aesthetics. And if you get it right, like the Zippo, then you also get an in-use ritual with the accompanying sound and smell - all delivering a unique and pleasurable brand experience. Not many designed products achieve this. Apple do, that's why they are so often praised for the same reasons.

Glad to see EB doesn't give up.
Seems pricey for what it is though. Looks a lot more sport and less street orientated than the 1125R/CR series as well (those bars look low).
Interesting that it has chain rather than belt drive, and there's no mention of the wheelbase in the specs. Both used to be Buell characteristics.

Edit: Aesthetically I think I prefer the 1125R and CR. They might have been a bit ugly with those big radiator pods, but they looked a lot less generic.

I was fortunate to view the EBR booth at Indy MotoGP this year and I have to say the fit and finish on these bikes was excellent. The styling is much more appealing in person and I would compare the overall look and quality of finish with any other manufacturer.. Incidentally, I am British.

Are breitling not American? Maybe it's the engineer in me that loves what these were designed for, yes there is a lot going on on the watch but you could navigate your plane with these. .. The watch could time itself and the slide rule was the calculate how far you had to travel before your next turn dependant on air speed.

So although complex, amazingly simple at the same time.
