Group buy

I cannot help but laugh when I see that lonely Group buy in the Parts and accesories section.
For some reason, I do not have the heart to take that threads virginity. There seems that a time would come when a moderator would get a clue and remove a subject. There must be something deeper to this or a joke I do not get would somebody with some gnonnadds dump this silly sticky.
Sort of like the Tell us what you want this sight to look like sticky. We told you, load and clear, for all the good it did. Or does this belong in the lost keys thread?

Guys and girls. In light of the recent interest for Scott steering dampers I gave Kurt (Top bloke who bleeds Orange) at http://www.blackdogcw.com/index.html a call for the potential for a group buy, below is the e-mail he sent me back. After telling him about the T-shirts he's also offered to get them printed up for the guys and girls in the good ol' USA as long as Shade+missus and no one else minds releasing the artwork. I'm going to be in the States in late May and will gladly bring a number of these back with me as long as all agree not to leave me paying the import charges should I get nabbed.

Hi Dan
Thanks for the call today. Good to catch up with you as well.

GREAT SuperDuke T-shirts. Makes me want a SD even more. I could arrange to
have them made here in the states for the US SuperDuke riders if the
designer is willing to share the files - just an idea to help support the US
riders? They would be a shedload cheaper too.

As for the BRP Group Buy. This is what I can do.

Retail for the full BRP / Scotts damper set-up (excluding the 1.25" riser)
is $699 US
The Riser cost is $69.00 US

I can offer the following discounts, shipped within the US, with ONE contact
and payment via paypal.

Up to 4 full units = 3% discount or $678
5 - 7 4 full units = 4% discount or $671
More than 8 full units = 5% discount or $664

I can apply the same percentage discount to the risers as the full set-up.

Assuming you are able to pick them up in Florida and bring them back from
Florida without import taxes, etc. the savings is fairly significant. As we
discussed on the phone, the margin on these are very thin and when I factor
in paypal fees and shipping charges to Florida, that is about the best I can
do. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks and ride safe.
Kurt

Am I going mad or something? Not too long ago I entered into a somewhat sarcastic dialogue about the asking price for a second hand damper:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17088&p=198337#p198337

In that dialogue I made the point that the damper was $US330 and the Riser Kit was $US169. A total price of $US499.

The price on the Scotts web-site is still $US499 complete, and indeed I brought one about six weeks ago, so why is the group buy price $US664 at best? Am I missing something?
