Hello guys.

I want to get a new helmet and what I mainly consider is safety, weight and aerodynamics.

I am about to choose among the following models

Uvex Onyx Carbon
Bell M4R Carbon
Lazer Carbon
Shark RSI carbon

Any opinions-reviews from owners of these models will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My current helmet is a Lazer Fiber D1 (not the carbon version).
It has 4 stars on Sharp ratings, way better aerodynamics than my previous helmet (AGV Airtech), and pretty decent ventilation and noise levels. Can't tell you much about the weight since mine is the regular version. Happy to help if you have any questions.

Have a look at the nexx carbon in white... Best looking helmet around other than the roof boxer

Either you're an Arai or Shoei head shape! Those are the two gold standards. If you're an Arai,... Check out
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcyc ... jc/carbon/. I've bought the carbon HJC cause I'm A Arai noggin. If you shop around it's available cheap and is a brilliant lid. Due to my aging sore neck, it's light, comfy although not as quiet as an Arai. But I'm happy with mine.

Shark or Bell

I love the shark fitting and quality ( and great sharp results ).

The bell looks pretty good, I'm sure it's also a good helmet.

Thanks Mr_Trecolareco. After reading various reviews and opinions I excluded Uvex and Lazer, so I have to choose between Shark and Bell.

I didn't want to be the one to say that Lazer and Uvex weren't at the same level of quality of the Shark and Bell, I'm glad you came to that conclusion yourself.

I would prefer a Shark RS2R to an RSI though.

Good luck choosing

I have a brand new shark rsr2 carbon.. And boy is it light.. Very quiet and it does not fog.. Shoei used to be my favorite.. Shark now takes the cake.. Go for the shark trust me !

Had my Shark RSI for about two years now and it is easily the best helmet I have ever had, still in good nick and fit is still great, visor changes are easy as well. They are manufactured in Thailand but I can see no issue in built quality. After previously having AGV and Shoei my next one will definitely be another Shark.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will prefer Shar RSR2 as Mr_Trecolareco posted. I will try it alongside with Bell and I ;ll pick the one that fits better.

Cheers

The Bell's are pretty but take ages to bed-in and the visor mech is a bit old school.

Shoies or Aria set the benchmark for kit and quality - but they're a bit boring to look at.

I have the Bell MX5 to look pretty in summer and a Shoei XR1100 cos it's simply the best, and can handle all weather.

I went to a shop today to test some helmets.

Bell M4R is a high quality, very VERY low weight helmet, that unfortunately doesn't fits my head by any means.
Uvex Carbon is also high quality (despite the fact Uvex is not well known in the market) and is also very light but is a little more heavy than Bell and I think it has worse ventilation.
Shark RSI (we don't have RSR2 here in Greece) is also light-weight (even heavier than the previous) with very good quality and shape.

I believe he's talking about the time the sponges of the interior take to adapt to you head making the fit perfect and snug.

Get an Arai or Shoe depending on your fit as they are the best made lids in the world.
Just check out the riders at the Isle of Man TT that aren't sponsored to wear a particular lid and you'll see most wear Arai's.

The problem with the Shark RSR2 is in size medium it looks normal but if you go a large well the shell on that thing looks huge.

Had a shark rsi before my shoei xr1100.. Shark looked cooler but the fit and finish of the shoei is leagues ahead.. Although at almost twice the price. Best part is that I don't have to be doing over 80km/h to not fog up on like the shark

One thing is to try the various helmets on for fit and comfort at the dealer...then go on the internet and buy the same helmet for 1/2 price.

Sure its tough on the dealer....but what are they doing selling a $300. helmet for $600. in the first place?

I bought this Schuberth S1 in red/orange:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWNX:IT

I have a blue one but it doesn't match the bike's colour.. I like its quietness, don't have to wear earplugs with fitted Akra + Motobox
It is one of the heaviest helmets, but I didn't noticed that.
