I have to agree with you Nerd, Ducati obviously only continue with the Desmo valves train for legacy reasons.
Probably effective in its day but when the Japanese manage to get a valve to close under spring load at 19000 RPM why continue with something so complicated.

Fit a ignition cut out quick shifter on your 1290 and you have variable valve timing also!
