Well, they're definitley a compromise on proper protection, but better than wearing normal jeans...

I have a couple of pairs, Draggin Jeans and Red Route... The problem for me is that they tend to be shit looking jeans, so you buy them to blend-in, and not look like you've just stepped off a bike, but then you're left wondering why you're wearing these shit high-waisted jeans and wish people knew you'd just stepped off a bike so they don't think you have crap taste in clothes.

They look even worse with the knee armour velcro'd in.

I haven't fallen off in either pair, but it's obvious they won't protect you like leather or proper armoured material stuff...

These days, if I wanna really wear jeans and ride properly, I wear my loosest Diesel Jeans with motorcross knee armour strapped underneath, and lightly padded undershorts (Dainese I think). ... or just wear decent jeans and ride more carefully.

i wear draggins... and after a fall in them... i would suggest wearing knee armour under them (impact force opened my knee pretty bad, but nothing got through the kevlar).

i have found some decent stuff from know that straps on to your leg, not velcroes in (although have that too).

i like them, but every now and then i accidentally put my knee down for a second and oops there does the denim

but in the QLD summers i wouldnt trade them for leather... you can stay cooler all day so you dont suffer heat exhaustion/stroke and you can keep a clean head for longer.

whereas full leathes and your head starts to go loopy after 4hrs

I've got a couple of pairs of Draggin Camo's. I'm pretty happy with them for running around town but they are only protection if you find yourself sliding down the road. CE armour is needed for impact or crush protection I.e.in traffic..... I use Alpinestara super moto knee/shin pads under the jeans. But they are hot to wear and although not as hot as leather, they aren't as drafty as some other lightweight pants.

Got a pair of Draggin Cammos and a pair of Walden Miller (police blue) but as previously stated they both look like bike pants. So, I only wear them when I am going for a long ride or anywhere that means Im not too much in public by my lonesome. They are a lot hotter than normal jeans in summer and you would die here in leathers any time but mid winter. In short I wear them no where near a much as I should.

And Davo doent everyone just wear safety shorts in Singers.

i have draggin traffic jeans which look a bit better than standard draggin havent fallen in them but they are supposed to be pretty good if you have armer in them but deffo get armor that attaches to your leg not the jean cos the velcro to the jean will just slip around to the back of your knee in an off good for short rides ie comuting but a sunday fast blast i would not swap for my leathers

got a few pairs of draggin jeans and shift jeans. they are good for work and give that little bit extra protection than standard jeans. Armour on the knees would be best when out on fast belting rides, but in traffic the kevlar padding assists.

Have had an off years back with draggin jeans, broken leg(tib and fib) and kneecap (patella), leathers wouldnt even have stopped that. But the kevlar stopped the requirement for a skin graft.

As MrZ32 notes, they are alot kooler when in them all day. And saves having to change when at work..!

Come on guys(?). Please stop this thread, or next we will be discussing wich helmet doesn't mess up you hair, best looking boots etc.
Please back to bikes, babes or drinking, before someone even posts pics of himself in kevlar jeans........For those who didn't know it: Harleyriders wear jeans, bikers wear leather!

you obviously dont live in australia, queensland.

80% humidity with 40deC... leathers equals heat exhaustion/stoke within an hour or 2... not what you want when pushing the limits

hell the roads melt out here let alone us

yes on 20min track sessions... full leathers but am straight out of them as soon as im finished

Here in the UK we have a company called Hood Jeans. They make seamless bike jeans with heavy kevlar reinforcement that runs from the waist to almost the bottom of each leg with no breaks. Most others I have seen have the kevlar in patches, the Hood jeans leave no gaps, you are slide protected everywhere. Also the kevlar they use seems heavy duty compared to others I have tried.

The upside is that they look exactly like a regular pair of jeans (NO patches or additional seams etc) and have the best slide protection of any that I have seen. The downside is that they are a bit heavy and in hot weather they quickly overheat when you stop generating a breeze.

Draggin seem to be market leaders but in a direct comparison I felt the Hood jeans won.

All that said a high speed slide will still leave you with friction burns and, unless you add knee siders and hip pads they will have zero effect on impact damage. For cruising I sometimes wear them, for scratching I stick to the Alpinestars.

I got to test my draggin cargos the other day. No bark lost, was low speed, but the kevlar burns are a bitch. I will be getting some strap on armour to go under them soon.

I have a pair of the office trouser version that I wear when I'm going to my nearest office, I wear those with a set of Alpine star ankle boot things, SMX1s I think, it means I get to use the bike and can walk straight into the office without having to worry about changing my boots or trousers when I get there as it would take me longer to do that at both ends than to drive there.

I have a couple of the cargo pant ones as well which I mainly use for dropping the bike off at the dealers or if I'm meeting the mrs in town for lunch or something so I can hang out in town or walk home without sweating my tits off.

It's the minimum I wear on a bike and only for short trips where I'm just cruising along from A to B, everything else is either full leathers or armored textiles.

They're brilliant for what I want to use them for.

I dont wear em, never have. But as TJ says, this kind of thing i suspect is fine for a poodle to the offy but for anything more than thqt its fot to be full protection, leather.

From the look of it I will trow my pair of technic jeans out as all of motorcycling Townsville rides in shorts, singlets and flip flops.
Obviously the roads have crash protection and non skin damaging features build in.

If you don't believe me I'll take some pics.

Flip flops, jandals, thongs...
I tried to stear out of the issue calling them thongs for the benefit of our US members. If I'm correct in the US thongs is ladies undies.

They probably want to know why bikers in Aus ride with womens undies on their harley tractorson?!?
