LSL bars or standard?

currently i have some LSL flat bars on the sdr but im not sure what to make of them compared to the standard. they seem really unstable at high speeds, as soon as the front wheel gets light over a crest of hard gas the front end wobbles until i let off and man handle it steady. so im thinking of swapping back to the standard bars for comparison this weekend. do many of you run the lsl bars?

Yep..I have LSL's but not the flat drag bars , was considering changing to the flat bars though ..... If you decide you want to go standard I have a set of standards I am willing to swap for your LSL's ......

Just waking up and re-read your post.... Think you may already have the standard bars! Only time mine shook its head was on changing to "lightweight" Michelin power pures - thought initially it was the reduction in unstrung weight but I think it more likely was incorrect suspension setup. Lots changed on the bike at that time, including fitting a steering damper which won't have cured it but certainly masked the problem. Turns out that on factory settings my bike was running 16mm too much sag ( 16mm too low at the front) -now that's sorted it handles an awful lot better and I haven't had a head shake since even though the unstrung weight has been reduced again with forged wheels....

So you think if i had a suspension set up it would stop the wobble? i have my damper on half way...maybe turn that up also? the flat bars are good dont get me wrong but i havnt rode with standard bars on an sdr for a good 2 year so i may swap them still and see which is best. if i do take them off do you want 1st refusal of the LSL bars?

Mate, I've ridden with everything on my SD from the standard bars to Rizoma straight ones, LSL flat bars and now clip-ons.

IMO if the roads your riding on and the speeds you're doing are resulting in a bit of head shaking over crests and maybe uneven surfaces then this is totally normal for the SD. This is why the SDR has a damper and they revised the steering geometry a bit from the '06 model, (which is even more twitchy).

If you put on the standard bars, (which are pretty high and make you sit up with less weight over the front), then it will make it even more light on the front end and prone to wheelying and shake.

I'd just get on and enjoy the feeling. After a while you get to trust the frame and suspension to sort out the wobble and you just get to know the feeling when it goes light and shakes a bit. Or slow down on crests a bit!

I have a Scotts damper and it's so good and so adjustable on the fly that I haven't had a shake or wobble in three years.

I had drag bars, but I'm going back to standard. They are very soft alloy, both mine and Ronins were written off at Cadwell. Admittedly my crash was quite a biggie, but Ronin's wasn't that bad but still resulted in banana bars.

Stalker has standard bars and seems to manage to go ok.

cheers for that bic, im going to get my suspension set up this weekend at my mates ohlins place and have a play with the damper over the weekend. im still tempted to swap back to the standard bars and see how they feel after.
