This may or not be in the wrong category. Most of my posts, read all, are pretty much bullshit so I am sure the general banter heading is just a kinder way of saying generalized bullshit.
I had an opening in my schedule and I decided to take a ride to Santa Barbara. This can also be put as I am now unemployed and to keep the worthless lazy lethargic self destructive subconscious thoughts from reaching the surface of reality, I hopped on my SD and drowned them in VOC fumes. There was a post up of Santa Barbara Motorsports having at least a Black and possibly an Orange 1290 SD on their showroom floor, so I went for a gander.
Truth be told, I am in no way a position financially for a new bike and one that lists out at 18 large is for all intent and purpose into the win the lottery pipe dream chance of reality. It is a beautiful motorcycle and I am happy that I had a chance to examine it in person. The few who have been reporting about their new two wheeled dreams have many a thing to be pleased with. There was a high priced, nicely outfitted 990 SD in the used area of the dealership. They wanted 8500 bucks for it, which was probably too high priced to get any serious responce from buyers. It was still ten thousand dollars away from the new SD and that leaves it well under half again as much.
When I purchased my SD it was from the same dealership. I also purchased at very close to MSRP. In fact it was MSRP out the door. That was not any real savings and the SD only went down in price along with mortgage backed security swaps and Lehman Brothers.
I am glad that the new 1290 owners had the wherewithal to make their purchases and I sincerely doubt the economy will flush itself down to the same place it managed to swirl as of late. I am hoping that the prices will fall a bit and that I could buy one for the price I payed for the 2007 SD, $14,000.00. That means that the ratio between what I paid and what a used SD is selling for extrapolated would put a 1290 SD in my garage in 2021. Fuckme that's too long, I'm buying two lottery tickets tomorrow.
Very nice bike and worth every penny.

Comrade Dribble: I'm a bit worried. You've lost your job and now you've become cogent. Is everything Ok?
I hope you're not depressed.

I'm cool. Idle minds and hands leave little to be desired in my case.
I am the smallest building contractor west of the Mississippi river and it creates a feast or famine lifestyle. A real roller coaster. I would not have it any other way. When I become less lucid and more obscure, you can bet I'm getting closer to owning a 1290. Let the crazy days begin.
PS
I'd still buy an orange one over the black.
