UPDATE: http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/Bonneville-Event

You've probably already heard or read that Hinckley's best sellers - having been around long enough to be considered "classic" already - are revamped and soon to be released. In theory at month's end.

Other than various spy "noise" online and in rags, not much from Triumph until now. All you officially get from the factory are silhouettes ... Here however, are some solid views of the new products, courtesy of a little film from the fine folks at Belstaff. Enjoy!

From what I see here of what's likely to be the new Thruxton (or it's replacement), I think I'm going to be glad that I didn't purchase a Norton or an RNineT.

The café at the end? Are they trying to hide the radiator?

I have a thing against fake cooling fins. I don't mind liquid cooling, higher CR, more power, etc., they need to embrace it. Make the the cylinders and head look liquid cooled. Like a "Drake" Triumph if you could imagine, (Look at old Drake knuckle head for what I mean). Keep some identity with the rocker covers,( from the drive side, one of the photos makes it look like it has a shaved and polished a65 rocker top.).
They should make the radiator look good. Like a performance piece, not something they are embarrassed about and hoping no one will notice. Otherwise it just looks fake. Oh wait
Those liquid cooled 750s from HD look like black painted Honda cruisers from the '80s.

The café at the end did have a nice profile.

Agreed, that retro Yam doesn't do it.
Here's a bit on the Thruxton...

There's a nice preview article in December's Cycle World on the new Thruxtons specifically. A little too much history (that most who would be interested, already know ...).

Some excellent design details. For example - the cooling fins aren't "fake" (as on 80's Japanese cruisers), they are deep and functional according to Triumph. Effective enough to to keep the radiator "skinny" - intended visually to be no more obtrusive than the oil cooler now on the air-cooled Bonneville flavors.

I see a Thruxton R in my future.

There may not be a vibration issue. I own a 1700cc Triumph Thunderbird Storm which exhibits little to no vibration. One of my friends has many classic Triumphs and other British bikes and really didn't believe a vertical 1700 twin could be smooth until he rode mine and became a believer in modern engineering. I just hope Triumph was able to keep the weight of the new generation bikes down to a realistic number. Footnote: The engine in the Storm is ridgidly mounted.

It looks to me, or at least what I can discern, that the 865cc motor is not completely going away. I think that is a good thing. I am sure that in the Thruxton the extra added horsepower is something that will help keep the idea fresh. It also appears that an upgrade to suspension will be a welcoming presence. I for one think that the standard Bonnies should stay with the smaller motor. I feel like the idea of why you buy this bike is to take leisurely rides through the countryside. It seems like the chase for more everything is what ruins the original equation. Regulations included. Regulations force more choke holds on motorcycles, which in turn force manufacturers to combat the choke-hold and they add more bells and whistles on along the way. I'll bet they'll have fuel gauges and no petcocks. Don't take my reserve fuel petcock away. I like reaching down when sputter occurs it's another connection to pastimes that I am willing to and ready to continue have present for sometime. I do not need a tachometer either.

Depending on price... I would consider selling my f800 and getting a thruxton and ktm 500exc.

I'm headed to the IMS show in Sacramento tomorrow, I am really hoping they have them there to take a real look at them. I'm not holding my breath though as I don't know if any bikes have made it over here yet. If they are there it might be dangerous for the wallet, last year my brother saw the ACE Thruxton in the flesh at the san mateo show and bought one on the spot. That bike set alongside the new bonnie he had bought the year before He sold the ACE bike and I can see the other one up for sale soon after we see these.

Well, not a new Bonneville in sight at the show. In fact Triumph had basically the same display bikes as they have had the last 2 years

Bump

Might be adding a bike to the stable this summer. Something that doesn’t spin up the rear or try to wheelie everywhere. Low seat and relaxed ride. May have a line on a ‘77 Bonneville, but old bike issues. These new things are around in fair abundance and there will likely be more with the economy going down the shitter.
Anyone get one? Care to review or compare with other of similar ilk?

Mate there is going to be a lot of bikes, cars, boats all sorts going cheap.
I think we are heading for a big depression and to me what the biggest joke of the matter is that if you
Look at the world economy even before the Kung Flu hit it was just a matter of time before it all went to shit.
So now we have the perfect storm for all these so called expert economists to blame there screw up’s on the Kung Flu virus.
It all seems a bit coincidental to me......
