I wonder if it will be a motor that gets placed in more frames?

Neither it should be a match for the LC8 engine and WhitePower Suspensions pack.
It may be a better rival for the easy comute with the nc600 from honda and other 800 like bmw etc
It may be the answer for those who want a new bike feeling, but that goes away in a couple of months and memories from the power whellies and easy tipin behaviour from the Superduke won't

I have had only threefifths of a handfull of Yamahas. A RD, a YZ, and a FJR and I was well pleased with the build quality of all of them. The FZ line has caused a few doubletakes and the latest "8" has a sharp clean look to it. When purchasing the SD my choices seemed few, I did want the torque curve of a twin or maybe a triple but could not see myself riding the ten thousand rpm qualities of the inline crowd. I see this bike as a splendid example of entering into the naked frey at what amounts to real wage earners ability to buy a ticket. Bikes are still toyz here in the states and this looks a heck of a lot of fun. It wont be in my garage only due to having bought my ticket for this type ride already.

however its difficult to ignore the points nerd makes about easily transferred parts from their sports bikes and upgrade
187kg is still a very heavy bike ( heavier than my s1000) WTF is that all about , its the same weight as an R6 which carries a lot more lumber.
modern bikes are just to heavy

For $7990 you could pop for suspension upgrade, brakes, etc, etc, etc and still be way under the Euro stuff. That motor sounds pretty impressive to boot.
I do like the Euro paint scheme on this thing better than the US stuff. Like the stripe and the clear anodised main frame better than the black ano.
Going to talk my buddy who is great in the dirt and so so on the street/track into buying one of these (upgrade from his CBER600RRRR)...will make a better rider out of him.
Did I mention CHEAP! Sorry, inexpensive.

If nothing touches down on this bike till fifty two degrees it must push the peg height-knee angle past old carpenter bending position. i do see this as a win win for Yamaha. I think they will sell many of these bikes.
MD be nice, not everyone can enter the euro zone.
