Hey guys, I've had a bit of an oil leak for a while coming from the oil tank.

So now the bottom of my case and a bit of the area near the side stand is covered pretty good in oil.

I planned on using some engine degreaser such as this:

Anyone used this or anything else with out it damaging the engine/electrical?

I don't know about that product. I'd go with the original degreaser, Kerosene.

I have and use shop mats from and no mess below the engine.

For electrical parts are specific sprays, they clean and protect the conector pins.

For the rest as steve says...kerosen or gasoil. Anyway be ware at the painted parts cause if you use them lot of times you can "eat" the paint.

Cheers

WD40, buy the gallon and the spray bottle. Go to a thrift store and buy a bag-o-rags and spray and wipe till your heart is content.

Petrol (gasoline for the colonials) and a paintbrush - nice and easy, much cheaper than WD40 or gunk etc.

Ah………Gunk.

It says ‘original’ on the can, if it is The Original Gunk, use it just for the smell of it. Takes me back over 40 years. By gum, what a smell, if you get hooked, you’ll be using Castrol R next. Once you have finished smelling it, given it is the original formula, you will find it has done a darn good job at cleaning off the oil and grease.

Enjoy.

So,

Your choices are Gunk, Kerosene, Petrol (gas) and WD40.

Aren't forums wonderful? Your decision should be so much easier now.

Simple green spray on a cold motor let it sit for a
lil while then hose it off
wont hurt paint or chrome
use it all the time

I've used gunk for years and it's wonderful stuff. The thing is the smell....... It's a little potent and the smell lingers on yer fingers. The only thing to cancel out the smell is fanny juice
