I saw on a news feed this afternoon that further racing had been scrapped for the day after a late start to the race and got a real bad feeling. I drove all the way home wondering who it was involved in what must have been a bad incident. Sad new indeed.

i know you guys over there love the Man TT but its the most foolish race. its almost guaranteed that at least one person is going to die each year... for what? to win a stupid race???

Strat. Do you get coverage over there in the US? It's on every night here, even for us plebs without satellite or cable telly. On Free-view for an hour every day. It's the best two weeks for me. If you saw the racing and onboard cameras and heard what the riders say from the pits and after practice and felt a little bit of the atmosphere and spirit - you wouldn't say what you said. It's so different from the sanitised GPs and WSB paddocks, full of real enthusiasts and amateurs and people who just love riding bikes.

Like Gin Reaper says, it's their choice.

Strat, if you need to ask why they do it/why we enjoy it, then you really won't understand.... It's the same reasons for the NW200

RIP Karl Harris, Bob Price and Simon Andrews, all now forever doing what they loved.

There are things we do that makes living more enjoyable. Jumping out of planes. SCUBA diving. Mountian climbing. Riding bikes real fast.
I saw a show on the guys who jump off mountains with body suits that turn into wings. 120+ mph.
One of them said it best after their jump.
He asked his bud if he thought if any one else on the whole planet had as much fun as they did that day.
The bud thought about it,,,and said he agreed with the other that no one else on Earth had what they had that day.
It's living life at it's fullest.

As guy Martin said
The reason I do it is because if you get it wrong, it'll kill you. If you think it's too dangerous then go home and cut your grass and leave us to it.
