Yeah, it appears to be official

Such a shame I really liked watching him.

Lets see if Pedrosa and Co now say how much they loved racing with him.

I believe that he should have raced in a series that used lap times while running the track alone. He was fast and he rarely realised that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Other racers , sixteen of them were on the track and he may have been aware that many were behind him but forgot in his quest to keep from crashing once again. My thankfulness is that it may not have adversely effected two veterans that have shown racecraft and tried to place this importance upon him to no avail.
Just when I was thinking that he may have matured and how quickly the maturity took hold he had a momontary laps of reasoning that, thankfully left others semi unscathed.
I would have kicked him off the track years ago.
Do not think that I am not pained and have no feelings of total dread, I do, more than you realise. I just feel that this is the premier class and it requires far more than guts, and glory.

Simoncelli is the only reason MotoGP was worth watching. He re-lite the days when you raced! The rest of the paddock positioned for points, had secret gentleman codes of conduct. Simo raced. Grendel believes he leaves a huge hole in our hearts and in racing.

We may have both said the same thing, only you took more words.
If he saved it, but he did not. He cut across a racing line. If he had of listened to his fellow riders and settled down a bit, but he did not. If he had rode at Laguna in 2008, but he did not. I appreciate that you feel stronly that he was a diamond in the ruff, I believe that the premiere class is not for uncut gemstones.
I do believe that Sic could have become great, but with if's you could put Paris in a bottle.
I feel your pain and wish that we could turn back the hands of time, but we cannot.

Dibble seriously you are talking rubbish there. He actually came incredibly close to saving it. The bike was hooking back up and that's why he cut back across the track. If he'd just let it go he'd have slid into the kitty litter and this thread wouldn't exist but that's not Super Sic. You only have to read some of the things his fellow racers in MotoGP and ex racers are saying about him to realise they thought he was an amazing talent and would be a future world champ. Yeah he crashed a fair amount last season and some of this but he was learning and learning quickly. Not content to just ride within his limits and come mid pack he pushed past and sometimes crashed but I'm guessing he learnt something from every crash. It's racing and it's dangerous but this really was a freak accident. Every quote I've read from current and ex racers are just full of praise and admiration for a talent that was set to dominate the best part of a decade but was taken too early. MotoGP has lost something impossible to replace.

Haven't watched MotoGP for years as it was boring. Sim is the only reason I got glued to the TV again this year to follow it.
I believe he was a true racer who didn't take any shit from anyone. If would have the talent I would ride the same, I would not be out there to be another runner up....
The mane and the heart of a lion. Rest at full throttle Sim!

I hate to see this tread turn in to a argument but Dribble you are full of sh&t!
If you believe what you are saying go and buy a tourer or a harley and get of this forum!

TBH the rider tributes to Kato were very similar.
He too would have won the premier class in the future had he survived.

While he was very important to Honda and Japan, the rest of the world got over it pretty quick (Sete excluded) and MotoGP rolled on.

This time will be no different.

On one forum, it's like the death of Diana all over again. I'm hoping a few of them will take their own lives.

His clashes with Barbera in 250 were the stuff of legend. They were both as bad / good as each other - amazing to watch. How Barbera wasn't badly injured at Mugello that time I don't know. They were both given a warning from the safety commision after that one.
