Last years trip for the Colonel's 40th set the bar high and ALL who went had a total blast. As some of you know, i go out to that part of the world every year anyway and now I know they are there, i will be looking to pop over for at least 1 day of fun!

I expect to be heading out in September, usually sometime in the last 2 weeks once the kids are back at school and a return flight is usually about £60/80!

If anyone fancies a day or two riding the trails and hills, post up. You dont need to bring ANY gear with you at all as its all available for hire and if you are a newb, they will teach you how to ride (like they did for me last year).

If nobody bites, i will just do a day or two with them and see if i can join a group they already have (if there is room).

I am keen to do Toro trail this year and September could be good for me as I am starting a new employee next week so if he copes he can hold the fort whilst I am on holiday in August and for this.

I hope to be able to get out there for a long weekend, or just a normal weekend and a day recovering .

That sounds good to me.

I used to ride a littlee motorcross but It's been a few years. Shouldn't take too long to remember how it all works.

Happy to share car hire etc if that helps.

Let me know when you plans firm up. Some notice on th dates would help.

I'm in!

I would set dates a coupla months ahead i suppose....and no need for rental cars, they will pick you up and drop you off at Malaga airport!

I could work work around any dates pretty much - getting to malaga airport is a p.i.t.a - but its prob a bit too far to ride

I know Andy, Mat, Si will all be keen if one is organised. Again I think March would be better for them as they will also all be at Cambrian. Numbers are limited to 12 however and we would already have a few down.

From the UK you'd be looking at ferry to Santander wouldn't you? Bloody long ride down the west coast of France otherwise and you'd be looking a at least 1 new set of tyres for the trip. Fuel costs would be harsh to say the least and you'd need a couple of days to recover before off-roading. It's a lovely idea and the roads down there would be awesome on a SD!! But i'd say it changes it from a 4 day trip into a 7-8 day one.

One year for our (at the time annual) pyrenees road riding fest. and Catalan GP trip, 3 of us decided to give the Portsmouth / Bilboa ferry a miss and ride down through France.

We had a route that not only avoided any M way but only used a 60 mile stretch of dual carriageway, the rest was pretty small roads, some of them D roads. It was one of the best "getting somewhere" rides I've ever done.

2 fireblades and my GSXR -fuel stops were quick and we made good time. Off the ferry at Le Harve early, first night stop in Periguex and over the border and in Huesca at the end of day 2.

The weather was awesome, and that's the key.
I'd done similar trips before and if it rains through France it's shite.

Off course southern Spain adds another big chunk to the journey.

Its a good point about the ride home Ginge......but i just really wanna ride the R in southern Spain. I go there a lot and the roads are just so awesome! I figure if i dont do it soon i never will....and i dont wanna have to do it on some rental BMW piece of shit either, i want my own bike!!

Anyways.....i reckon the ride from Santander isnt that bloody long. I wouldnt do it the next day after 2 days off roading either. You'd wanta day lounging by a pool or sommat to ease out the sore limbs then head back at a suitable pace perhaps....

The thing is, i guess i am only thinking of myself here cos i can crash with family for free for a while after and get over the trail riding before heading back......at best theres only room for 1 or 2 more guys there to stay but my folks are a bt too old to be entertaining a bunch of bikers...especially Ronin!
