dragon's wrath lol, more like a chance for folks to get in over their heads quicker than usual. looks fun though if ridden in a safe mindset. 18 wheeler death....shite, plenty of vids online of truckers driving where they have no business driving

I happened to be lucky enough to be in North Carolina and to visit the Dragon. I was unlucky enough to be in a rental car. I camped under the tree of shame and met a very graciuos gentleman in the name of Dr. Alan Dollar who let me use his DRZ fourhundred for a loop. I think it pounded in my head from then on that staying to the right as much as possible is a safe bet on a road that is not shut down from oncoming trafic and is travelled upon by misfits
It was all I could do to remember that binning it was not an option.
If you need a bypass go see Dollar in Atlanta.

The Dragon is fun, but I like to run it very early before it's crowded and the cops are out. I've been stuck behind gaggles of cruiser guys - one was going so slow he had flashers on. There are a lot of good roads in that part of the country. If you go, consider buying some of these to find the good roads: http://shop.americaridesmaps.com/main.sc
You'll find many miles of excellent and less crowded roads.

Hmmmmmm ... its been decades since "Drivers Ed", but I'm pretty sure that's not the best way to park a vehicle.

Looks like fun stuff. WTF with the truckers. You would think by now they would know this aint no short cut.Thats why they have cb radio's.There are so many fun roads in this country.Calif has some great ones too.Rock store runs HWY 33 I know there is a good one in San Diego That one I would like to try.
I would love do the dragon but I think you would have to have chase cars in front with radios telling you whats up.We do that here One guy goes in front makes sure there are no cops. Then when we get the all clear we go for it.

It does look awesome fun

WTF are they doing allowing letting those HGVs down there though?? It's a accident waiting to happen! I was riding in the Pyrenees with Motoronin and 2 other buddies when we came across a HGV on a road he no right being on. It was right in the bottom of a gorge and to our right was a wall of rock that was the edge of the road. Suddenly as we meet a blind right we have a HGV coming the other way, as he makes his turn our lane goes from 8ft wide to 6 inches wide. Simon was riding up front and came very close to getting crushed as the driver didn't seem to notice just how much of our lane his trailer was taking up. I'm actually astonished he was able to navigate that beast round that road at all. There was certainly no turning back for him but he should never have been on the road in the first place.

I love the posts on the visordown site by the guys who say "it's just another twisty road that the Brits would ride blindfolded". Apparently, there are some that believe no one in the US knows how to ride.

Impossible to ascertain if the average UK rider would go faster than the average US rider on any given road. However, I suspect the average Uk rider would weigh about 100lbs less than the average US rider and that has to count for something, acceleration wise.
