I have life long scars on both hips from falling of motorbikes in my youth when wearing jeans. Worn through to the bone they were. Weeks of lying in salt water baths soaking off bandages that were bonded onto my slowly healing injuries.

I'd never do it now. Leathers simply enable you to walk away with just bruising.

It's a no brainer.

But what can you do? If people want to ride unprotected they will learn by their mistakes.

US1 in florida pulling out from a side turning I watched a bloke in shorts and t-shirt hit a truck on an R6...... One of my mates in the car exclaimed -" oh god his helmets come off...." as it tumbled down the road....

..... very sadly it wasn't his helmet that had come off, and i know that no amount of gear would have stopped that particular accident from happening, but from that moment on i promised myself that it was all the gear all the time or get rid of the bike......

Past few weeks around here ,,I've seen every Harley being ridden in such a way,,,temps were in the upper 90's and very ,very humid,,,,did I mention that sneakers are the foot attire of the day as well another great choice,,,,your right in saying that once you fall wearing this stuff,,you'll never go and do that again

It's Sturgis time....lots of bare skin, beer drinking and 70+ year old rock musicians doing their thing!! Last year over 3 million gallons of beer were consumed at the two week Sturgis Rally...gotta be something stupid come from all that!!

LOL, come for a visit here... Flip flops, shorts and singlets are all the rage here on bikes. Saw a guy on a mint R1 yesterday with the gay running shorts on his bike. You know the ones that open up the side and only good looking chicks should wear. He probably came from the gym (is that what they call it now...).
Plenty of harleys here too, not much with leather jackets on, only the hard core ones have the leather vest.
Worst I find is the lack of gloves, even if you arse over 5km/h you stick your hands out and have to peel the gravel out for days.
I do ride here with the kevlar jeans and wear a vented jacket and gloves and I'm more or less the exception.
Have to admit it is inviting when it's 35C but common sense prevails.

What do you guys have for recommendations as far as street pant-wear?

It's something I don't have yet... Do the Kevlar jeans have armor in them?
