I have been in fat you ate it with the scram blurs since they came out.
I like the idea of harkening back to a tyme when a moooorsickle just was and that is all it was.
I wanted to get a bike that is at the end of a bi-gone time with simple, no nonsense design and technologies.
It seems to me that this bike may fill the bill.
I bought a 2008, built in 07, Scrambler today. 15 grand on the clocks with a few bells and whistles in the form of centerstand, skid plate, mini shield.
I am not sure it will fit but the cost of entry is so low and most likely the depreciation hit was taken up by now it will not slide down to the worthless category for a spell.
Ive been sliding around on parrellel twins in the form of knackered eighties jap flaps, it was tyme to try something a little less tired and lord willing less tiring.
I am selling my V-Strom so the Scrambler will be my reliable two wheel entertainment while I jerk on more SD wires.

I can dig the Scrambler, but I like the Thruxton more so. I've thought about purchasing one, but I think I'll wait a year or two to too tu see if the Nortons ever come state side (wishful thinking).

You guys have had the pleasure of thumping around and about enough to know they do take a toll on your psyche by the end of a long day. That long day in miles is just past three hundred. I felt a twin was in order for the "omni" bike. The bike is entry level in cost and build. Many pieces are just good enough. Lots of large tolerances as I am sure that the are loose fit from the get and not wore out. Chrome is of the variety that I cannot see how it would make it through one November in London.
The SD is a great bike and many here are blessed with the confidence of believing it will take them to and from a two day journey from the comforts of home. It is most likely a learned respounce and I have learned it may leave me stranded.
I wanted to remove as much extra's in a bike and still have a twin. Harley does not make a bike that has my feet under or behind my hips except the XR1200 and it is fuel injected and too small tanked. It was on the short list.
I am not replacing an SD with this pyle Gomer, I'm augmenting my piles drivers. Oh and I forgot about the Mefo's, they will go on the Scrambler next.

i see these bikes and the people that get all misty eyed over the original concept. then someone comes along and makes one of these a big overweight machines to begin with, tries to make them offroadable, but you still have this heavyweight beast that will beat the hell outta you! id much rather have something light and nimble and modern, something designed to go where the trail ends. isnt that why technology advanced and gave us modern trail bikes?
seems to me something like the new Freeride is built in the spirit of the original Scramblers, not hardcore motorcross, but fun and bombproof, light weight!
i would think they would be a hell of a lot more fun myself...

I kinda screwed the story up a bit. The fat pig was my old Strom.
They make different tank bags for tanks and riders and bikes for different riders. If you had roses to throw I think they should be thrown elsewhere also.
I have owned and rode a few miles on three different Stroms. what they do is all well and good though I venture to guess no petals have been wasted on current or past Scramblers or Stroms. I like it and make no apologies for tank bags or motorcycles. Misty eyed meh[/quote]

fair enough!
