So work is flying me to London for a week. My first trip to England and as a lifelong football fan (US and rest of the world varieties) I've been looking forward to attending the match my boss said he'd get tix for. Unfortunately he forgot next week is international play and couldn't get Arsenal tix for the 12th. Sigh.
So what do you suggest? Pay huge broker prices? Maybe catch a train to another town for something else? Or just go to a pub and drink my way through something on screen. I really only have the 12th to do this between work and travel.
In the meantime I am practicing my English: Bollocks! Bugger off! I've cocked it all up!

+1 on that
if it's something you really wanna do and can afford, just do it, you'll wind up regreting it otherwise.

I don't if there's a game on while you're over here, but a home at Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Rd is a good venue. You can easily get seated close to the pitch and being a "smaller" club the atmosphere is good. The Emirates stadium for Arsenal can be a bit sterile unless you sit with the loons in the loud quarter.
Failing that a big sports pub with sky tv etc will be an acceptable second best. Especially with any of the top 4 clubs playing.

Can be a fantastic atmosphere at White Hart Lane and if you can get tickets in the Park Lane end then its quite an experience. Judging by the fact you wanted to go to see the ARSEnal I'd guess watching Spurs wouldn't be your cup of tea
Edit: Lookig at the fixtures there isn't any teams at home in London except the ARSEnal. If you could get a ticket for the Manc derby that could be good. The last one was dog shit but I'd have thought it would be a better game at Old Trafford.

Not partial to Arsenal; that was more of a factor of being in London and not having my own car.
Thanks for suggestions. Will probably see what the locals have to say when I hit the office Monday. Or maybe tomorrow at the Super Bowl party that goes till 3am

arsenal / wolves will be a one sided affair anyway, find a good rowdy pub and get amongst it, it's always a great time and you will have a ball! just keep yourself in check or there's another phrase you're likely to hear............. you're nicked! sunshine!

So,
...you get flown all the way to one of the world's most exciting capital cities for a couple of days, and you wanna spend a whole afternoon standing in a windy, wet, footie stadium in very grim Holloway, North London, (I know, cos I live there) watching 22 over-paid haircuts kicking a ball around in the vain hope that one or two goals may get scored over 90 looooong minutes, surrounded by thousands of blokes and no attractive women.
Here's a new English phrase for you: Fooking Bonkers.
