LC4,

Why are you looking for an american car? When ever I see an Aussie post on this board I imagine that you all drive this http://www.autocheck.com, they are pay sites and have information on vehicle accidents. Carfax doesn't always have all the info, for instance the person never claimed the accident. I was looking at a used station wagon (bmw easy guys) and the carfax report was provided free from the used car lot. The car fax report wasn't very telling. I ran an auto check report and it showed that it has severe frame damage (car was to good to be true) so I walked away. If you are serious look for a car fax report AND an autocheck report and better yet, pay a qualified mechanic to look at the car on a lift ($100 typically). States like California (southern), texas, Arizona hardly ever see rain let alone snow so there shouldn't ever be any rust damage. When you move more east and north you see snow in the winter and they use salt on the roads. My car in Massachusetts was trashed after 1 winter and I washed it every 10 days that winter.

Good luck!
