What's the Problem with the 2007 Superduke

Hi everyone, it's my first post. Although I've been trying to read and research I've come across a question I can't get a definitive answer on.

I'm looking at two Superdukes, and I'm going to purchase one of them in the next week or so. One of them is 2007 with exhaust and some goodies. The other is a stock 2008. Both have a similar number of miles.

A good friend of mine, who owns a 2008 Superduke told me under no circumstances should I purchase a 2007 Model because they are wrought with problems. However when pressed, he didn't know what those problems were.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are no year specific issues with the SD. Some have more fueling issues than others. However as has been extensively written about this can be cured. So ride the 2007 and if it is in good nick, get it.

I don't know about that. My SD is a 2007, bought off eBay from a fellow on Long Island. Not 1 issue with it in 3 yrs of ownership. I don't "beat the piss out of it" but I don't baby it either.

It's not an 05-06 model

The 08 and 07 bikes are the same apart from graphics so if you're getting more for your money with the 07, then go for it.

None. I have a 2007 with no problems. Well except for a careless mechanic cracking the breather tube elbow at the 600 mi service making it look like the bike had a valve cover leak. Found source, replaced the part, and all is golden.

Oh, and the 2007 you;re looking at will be about 20 lbs lighter with the after market exhaust

Hmm, not sure. I just got back from a ride on mine and it seemed fine

No problems with my '07. He does wear out tyres rather quickly.

I have an '07 and there have been absolutely no problems with it. The engine was always pretty smooth from new with non of the extreme snatchiness reported by others. With a Motobox and all the other mods it had pretty faultless fueling now.

I'd go for the '07 with exhaust but be prepared to get a custom map done to make sure the fueling is right. As stated above the extra weight of the standard cans can really effect the handling, let alone the power output.

Only thing to watch with the '07 onwards is the ongoing issues with the Brembo radial calipers and the maintenance after the salty winters. Make sure you check either of these bikes to see if there is a build up of corrosion round the pads/discs and clean them before you ride if the bike has been standing for a long time.
