You can find me and my '07 SuperDuke rolling around from the Monterey Bay, up the coast around Santa Cruz, Davenport and Pescadero and those wonderful asphalt ribbons running through the Santa Cruz mountains. I can also be found haunting Mt Hamilton and points east and north. While I live in the South Bay, I spend as little time on the slabs as possible. I've been known to take a long way 'round just to enjoy the mellifluous thrum of a v-twin running up and down the gears rather than take a freeway or expressway.
My riding experience goes back to riding dirt bikes since gas was cheap, so that gives you an idea that I’m not young. I was bit by the street riding bug a few years back. My first bike with a license plate was an ‘05 SV650 where I learned the joys of the v-twin. I sold that to make room for a GSX-R 750 which is an absolute BLAST on a racetrack but just isn't as pleasant to tool around on for very long (my back isn't getting any younger).
So when my best friend told me about this killer deal to pick up a brand new, three year old SuperDuke for the price of a used one, I jumped on it and I'm loving every minute of it. I've kept the Gixxer for track days seeing as how I'm blessed with Laguna Seca, Infineon and Thunderhill relatively nearby and there’s a CRF 450X in the trailer too. I believe it's a nearly ideal situation. Everyone should have a bike suited to the task!
That’s my story. See you in the twisties!
