Hello

My name is Chris, I'm 42 years old, have a three year old and another on the way so I understand...lol
I just purchased a left-over new 08 Superduke 990. I have been out of riding for the last 3 years due to some crash sustained injuries, followed by a very painful medical condition that was finally delt with two months ago.
I'm now healthy and learning to live life again!! I had talked myself out of believing I would ever ride again...just made things a little easier to live with.
Guess I was wrong, I have purchased a bike I have wanted for a long time, the SD. The trigger being an e mail from someone in my riding group with pics of his new SD!!!
I have been riding for some 30 years.I started my street riding on a 3 cyl 2 stroke Kawi and from there went directly to inline fours (GSXR'S mostly)...The SD is my first twin and I can't wait!! Looking forward to the change.
I won't be able to pick my new bike up until next week....I live in a small town 100km from where I purchased the bike. I have one last medical procedure to go through, and they say I won't be feeling to well for a few days...then back to work for 8 days (on-call,can't leave the area)...then pick bike up!!

I'm looking forward to being a part of the forum...I think I'm more of a lurker than a poster.

I have been riding bikes all my life, bikes are my passion and there is nothing else I would rather do.

I have raced motocross for 13 almost 14 years, I am now an Intermediate level rider. Its a fun thing not a career. I Ride Yamaha but I am looking at picking up the 350SXF for next summer.

I just Bought an 08 SDR, I had been looking at bikes and this was the only bike I really wanted. I talked to my Motocross sponsor and found out he had a used Duke R with 88km on it and a Full Akropovic exhaust.

I am looking forward to talking bikes with you guys.

Welcome! That's awesome that they found a nice SDR for you! I'm sure you'll love it, and for the things that you want to change, upgrade, or just chat about what you like on the bike, this is the place for you! Enjoy

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to getting out on the bike. The Snow just will not stop, most snow in 25 years! So the SDR will have to wait.
Some of my friends have GSXR's and now they all want Duke's. Around here the Duke is not a common ride, so It will turn heads.

If any of you are from Alberta (Edmonton area) let me know and this summer we can do some riding. I want to do a trip out to BC, I found some roads out by Penticton that are perfect for riding. Low traffic, with lots of hills and hard corners on new pavement. Should be a lot of fun!

Any Motocross guys on here? If any of you have been on the new 350SXF let me know what you think.

Hi guys, I just picked up a barely used 08 super duke. I love it, and am already amassing parts for mods. I'm glad to be a part of the forum! Here's the beast:

Hi and welcome. I lived in Edmonton & surrounding areas for quite awhile, and I feel for you regarding the weather, the lack of curves in the roads, and all the red light and speed cameras. Other than that it's a great place to ride Your new bike looks great.

Finally set up on here. Thx Steve.
2015 Black 1290 SDR.
Ive owned this bike since late Aug. Bought 2nd hand with just over 1000 km. Now I have just over 2000 km.
Impressive power. Seems smooth enough. 3rd gear power wheelies. 4th gear pull ups. I never did learn clutch ups.
Handling? Id like to put it on a track. The roads here are the shits.
Of course, even tho it has more power then any other bike ive owned, the mods & personification will begin.
Ive read few threads regarding the mods I might pursue. Forgive me later for asking or starting a thread that has been cover.

cheers
