Hi all!

I've been viewing this site now for several weeks. I came across it when I was doing research for my next bike. The Superduke was in contention against other bikes that I was looking at. Well, long story short, I found a killer deal on a 2008 Superduke R that's got a little story behind it.

So, I'm scouring the net looking at Ducati Streetfighters, Kawasaki's new Z1000 etc and I found this Superduke R out in Cali sitting on the showroom floor trying to figure out why it had 2010 (For USA) body work but was listed as a 2008. I called the dealer and the rest is history. I am having it shipped to my home here in Georgia. It's been about 4 weeks now since the paperwork was done. I'm extremely excited as the shipping company will be delivering the bike on Tuesday of this week. Awesome!

The bike I bought has a little history. As I was told, KTM was going to bring the 2010 SuperDuke R to the USA but didn't have any here in the states to bring to a dealer event at Laguna Seca Raceway in California. Being that there is absolutely no mechanical difference between the 2008 and 2010 models, they took two brand new 2008 SuperDuke Rs and clad them with 2010 bodywork. After the dealer event, the shop I eventually purchased the bike from scooped both of them up. KTM then decided NOT to bring the Superduke R to the USA for 2010. So, what I have here is kinda rare I suppose!

This bike is going to pair nicely with my 2006 Triumph Speed Triple. I plan on installing the Moto Hooligan airbox, FMF pipes and a power commander III. Then I'll bring the bike to a local performance shop (we have lots of those in those in this part of the country) and get a custom map built for it.

I look forward to being a participating member of this forum as i find that the information here is quite useful. What a great site.

Here's a couple of pics as it sat on the floor in the showroom in California.

Welcome thunderpunk.

I noticed recently that KTM have started selling a white plastics conversion kit to turn your older SDR into 2010 SDR colours, I wonder if they did that off the back of deciding not to take 2010 SDRs to the US.

Not cheap mind at about £600.

Oh man, that sucks. I wonder if it happened in transit, or what? Knowing Don, I highly doubt that he would have sold it if he knew something was wrong. Sorry to hear that, man. At least you've got the warranty...could be worse.

So sorry that you're going through all of that, man. Not fun. Hopefully, your local shop will come through for you. I would suggest that give Don at Scuderia a call when this is all squared-away to let him know what happened. At the very least, it may prompt them to do a more thorough inspection of their stock. There's a good chance that he'll work with you by giving you a break on parts as well, but obviously I can't speak for him on that item.

If you speak to Abby again, tell her I said HI. She's a nice kid, and really tries hard to pair people with the right bike, as opposed to whatever will make her the most commission. Gotta love that in a sales person. Keep us posted as to how this all plays out, please. I sure do feel better about having Scuderia as my local shop, though.

Well, they surprised me. They were very nice and understanding and said they'll get to the bottom of the issue. Like me, the manager of the shop was surprised and had never seen something like that on a Marchesini wheel.

We talked about servicing the bike and I mentioned that I was going to put a Moto Hooligan box on the bike. They know about Moto Hooligan airboxes and have installed three for customers. So, it appears these guys know what the heck they are doing.

All in all it's been a relatively good day I suppose.
