Hey folks, loving this forum. Have had my 08 for a couple of years now and have been viewing the forum but am just now registered. So much useful info! The bikes been great but I need to do something about fixing the throttle/fueling. It is just god awful when you are cruising behind somebody going 45 mph and just trying to keep a constant speed. Sounds like a custom tune is the best way to fix this? Or maybe load up the standard SD smoothened map with tuneecu? My bike is stock, with the exception being the SAS was removed. Previous owner had pipes fitted but then sold them before selling me the bike with stock pipes

Anyway, thanks for all the great info. I'm hoping to be able to contribute to the forum as time goes on.

Welcome!

Best thing is to do a search as all these questions have been answered many times.
To get you under way, all the following make a difference on the 990 "funny' throttle. Best result is from a proper dyno tune and remove all the emission crap.
With tuneecu you can do the mods by turning them off in the ECU.
Things to be turned off or removed are: SAS, O2 sensors and the limiter in 2-3rd gear. Last one doesn't solve the throttle issue but nice to get rid off anyway.
If you can dump the original exhaust cans and do a filter upgrade. (either rottweiler or Motohooligan)
If you find a suitable map for your setup yo ucan upload it yourself with tuneecu. The software is free for PC and all you need is a cable, cheap to buy or borrow.

All your problems in regards to erratic throttle and excessive fuel consumption will be gone after that and you can truly enjoy your steed!
Sounds like a lot to do but as said most can be switched off in tueecu and is a 5 min job.

Enjoy!
