Hey SDers. I just picked up a black 08 with less than 2k miles. My last bike was an 06 Speed Triple, but after test riding an SD back in 07 I almost traded it on the spot. But I couldn't justify another bill, as the speedy was paid off, and new SDs were over 14,000 bucks.
As fate would have it, my trusty triple was stolen last year while I was at work. It was found 2 weeks later badly damaged, and totaled by insurance. So I kept my eyes open for a new bike, and was about to buy a monster 1100 evo when I came across the black beauty at RPM Cycles in Dallas. All said and done, I got a hell of a deal, and got the bike for about half what I'd have paid for the Ducati.
She runs great, and is a blast around the city. Unfortunately, twisty roads are nowhere to be found in this part of Oklahoma, but I'm planning a road trip to NW Arkansas soon. I used to ride the Triumph there, and those are some of the best roads for motorcycling.
On a side note, I was riding route 66 near Edmond OK on Saturday and saw a bike exactly like mine. To say that SDs are rare around here would be an understatement, so I was really surprised. I turned around and tried to catch him, but he either rode like the devil, or turned off somewhere. Was it someone on this forum?
I'm 44 and have ridden bikes since 14. Here's a list of bikes I've owned (as if anyone cares)
'81 YZ125. My first motorized transportation
'84 CR250. Damn near killed me many times. It was a beast.
'86 Yamaha FZ600. My first street bike. Air cooled 8v, when Ninja 600 with 16v were all the rage. I had to be different. Mine handled way better =P
'89 GSXR 750. Anyone remember SACS? Great bike
'92 GSXR 750. Liquid cooled and portly. And Awful 90's colors.
'94 XR600L. A break from crotch rockets, and a blast to ride trails and fire roads.
'02 Honda SuperHawk. A taste of V-twin goodness. T-Boned a lady in a Mustang, who didn't see me, and pulled out in front of me.Totaled
'04 BMW R1100S. First non japanese bike. Overcooked a curve on Hwy 23 (The Pigtrail) in Arkansas, and ended up 100 ft down a ravine. Shattered pelvis and cracked C5 and C6 vertebrae.Bike totaled =(
'06 Speed Triple. Wonderful bike. Loved the sound. Hooked me on nakeds. Stolen
'08 SuperDuke. Of all the bikes, this one is the finest. Love the look, the handling, the engine. And it has all the right high end components (brembo, WP, etc...)
Thats it! Sorry if I got long-winded. Hope to find some people to ride with, as I have only lived here about a year, and only owned a bike here for about a month.
Later.

Welcome, you come to us with a nieghbor that has shine many a bright light on the SD experiance. If this forum is lucky you will add as much Okyfication as the esteemed Jihad Joe.
I see that it is quite the tradition to run a front plate that says something about you. Tell us what you custom front plate on your Ford F150 says.
How long a Sooner and when will you say Later?
