Hi Folks

My name is Michael. I have been riding motorcycles since about 1965. Bought a 2016 Superduke 1290 R a couple weeks ago and have already put about 2000 miles on it. This is my 31st motorcycle over the years, and the only other one I have right now is a 2017 Duke 690.

I live in the foothills of the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountain range, with terrific riding areas all around me. Truly motorcycle heaven.

Anyway glad to be here, and really enjoying my Dukes!

Welcome Michael, I did a bike trip over there a couple of years ago. Did most of the passes back and fore the sierra nevada's. Outstanding roads and scenery. If I remember right, highway 89 was particularly memorable, heading roughly north to south on the east side. Would love to do it on a something like a superduke

My favorite loop is from Angels Camp where I live, south on hwy 49 to Sonora, east on 108 over Sonora Pass (9600 feet, very very twisty), then down the east side to hwy 395, then north on 395 to hwy 89 and west over Monitor Pass (8300 feet) to where it intersects with hwy 4. West on hwy 4 over Ebbetts Pass (8700 feet), then over Pacific Grade Summit (8000 feet) and continue west on 4 down to home in Angels Camp.

It is more fun on the SDR than it is on the Duke 690, but great fun on both of them. The power of the SDR is pretty addictive.
