about 6 months ago i bought a SD - R 08, and for the last 6 months i havent stopped raving about it!
Finally good to start posting, and not just creeping on everyone elses posts.
Been riding for years but this is actually my first real road bike, always just had dirt bikes.
Apart from the show bits ( bars, mirrors and stuff) i bought K&N air filter and carbon remus cans but not yet remapped to suit.
Thinking of getting a PCIII, but i cant quite find maps for those cans....are there other maps i can use (akra)? or will that just be useless.
Also keen to ride with other SD maniacs
Cheers

Glad you are enjoying the Duke. Others here are more clued up, and will recommend tune ECU rather than a PC. Do a thread search!

Im also from Sydney, havent seen any other SD's around yet. I just got my 09 SD a few months ago, and just fitted some carbon yoshi's a couple of days ago. Looking into doing the Tune ECU remap over the weekend, how does yours run without the remap?
Cheers

Greetings from Adelaide. Others have suggested TuneECU and I concur. I wouldn't leave this too long because you have
unrestricted your air flow with the Yoshi's. That means that you'll be running leaner than you should. It is not good
for any bike to run lean as temperatures rise - things melt in extreme conditions. It's always better to run rich rather
than lean. So forget about a PC3. It's a waste of money when you can just remap the ECU directly (which is what PC3
is trying to do when you can't get to the ECU). Make, borrow or buy a cable and get it done. My feeling is that a AKRO
map is close enough if you don't want to get a custom map on the dyno. The reason for this is because you are going
from a fully choked system (catalytic converter Etc) to straight through pipes with both the Yoshi's and the Akro's. Given
that the pipe diameter is the same (I think - haven't actually measured this) the flow will be very similar. The difference
is between a constricted system and either of the unrestricted systems. In terms of constriction it is interesting to cut open
an original KTM unit. Inside the gas has to pass through a pipe that is about 1.5cm on each side plus the cat honeycomb itself.
That's a big difference to the Yoshi diameter which I guess is about 35mm.
Also if the Yoshi's use removable baffles (like the Akro's) it is easy using TuneECU to put in the proper map for the track Etc.
Takes about a minute or less once you know what you are doing.

Ok ill get onto it soon, i have noticed that it does get quite hot idling in traffic quicker than with stock pipes on.
Ill take an indepth look at the tuneECU thread and buy a cable.
Thanks for the input guys.
Mick.

So to hell with being sensible, bike number 7 is the one I've always wanted!.
Just bought an 06 Superduke & pick her up later this week.
Got one as close to stock as i could find, really looking forward to doing it up & getting amongst it!
Little bit excited!
Thanks in advance for all the tips

Post a picture. Hopefully it hasn't got reflectors on the forks

Haha, yes, it still has reflectors on the forks, but I reckon they'll be first in the bin during weight reduction round 1
it's 2006 with a mere 9000kms (I think that's around 5000 imperial units of something)
Photos soon
