Hello fellow duke owners. I just recently purchased a 2008 superduke a little over two weeks ago and I can't even put in to words how much I love this bike! I'm a bigger rider (6"3, 240lbs) but this bike fits perfect. The bike is bone stock except for the FMF Apex carbon exhaust. This is the first street bike I have owned in a long time but a proud dirt bike owner for quite some time. If any one has recommendations on upgrades or just suggestions about better products for the duke I am all ears. The bike is just an alternate mode of transportation so I'm not up for track riding recommendations, but any other is welcomed.

Welcome! That's a hell of a commuting bike you've got there.

Take advantage of the forum, it's been extremely helpful for me the last three months while I've gotten familiar with my bike and done a few mods. The people here have been through it and are very helpful.

PS, I put on an FMF Apex exhaust last weekend, and I'm curious if you find it a little too loud for the street also? Planning a mod on the quiet insert next weekend, which I saw detailed here...

Hello and welcome.

I love my SuperDuke out in the Texas hill country. What part of Texas are you in?

I swear by the Dunlop Q2 tyres. I'll run a couple of track days a month and still get 2,500 miles out of them over the course of 4 or 5 months.

They do grow um big in Texas.
Welcome to the nuthouse. Texas, being bigger than most, is coming dangerously close to saying something to the effect " I'm from the planet earth". Can you narrow the area down just a tad?
Unless it's somewhere near Galveston, then we wont ask you to have to cop to that mess.

I'm new to the SUPERDUKE.net crowd
2007 Superduke 990. Anth.
Graves CarbonFiber Exhaust
17T countershaft sprocket
PCIII USB w/ custom map
Pilot Power Race med/soft-FT & med-RR
This bike is awsome there are not alot of SD riders in Dallas well everyone that I've met has said that this was the first one that they have seen on the street. Does anyone have any Steering Damper info. I'm not used to the frontend of my bikes being so light.

Hello, Gentlemen:

Well, I first came across this site in 2010 when I was contemplating purchasing a Super Duke, but having gone a different direction at that time, I never registered or participated here. Not that I wasn't tempted anyway by all the clever banter and technical know-how. But I digress.

Like recent addition Scott Miller from Michigan, I too, am the new, lucky and giddy owner of a 2008 R. I found the bike in Arizona and it was lust at first site. Think "Sofia Vergara" and that will just about explain the attraction. Of course I had seen R models before...lots and lots of pics anyway...but something about this one kept whispering sweet nothings in my ear. So I closed the deal.

The bike is not in my possession quite yet but when it arrives I will certainly post some new pics and provide my KTM-newbie impressions for everyone to nod knowingly over. Or shoot down in flames. Whatever.

Details on the bike include that while mods by the previous owner (the original owner at that) have been few, they have been well targeted, at least in my opinion anyway. Mileage is 3,340. The bike has the full Akra treatment including the ECU remapping from the dealer download; it has a Suter slipper clutch; it has a virtually new set of Dunlop Q2's with only 100 miles on them; it has had the O2 sensors removed with resistors wired in; it has the "canisterectomy" with block-off plates and hoses removed; always full synth Motorex oil and OEM filters, except for the DNA air filter; and it has R&G frame sliders. The owner didn't like the shroud decals so he took them off, but he also bought a complete replacement set to sell with the bike. Cool touch and good thinking. In fact, all stock bits including the exhaust and the clutch pack and sensors etc are coming with the bike.

Same guy currently has a beautiful 1098R on eBay.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to experiencing the bike and getting the benefit of the combined knowledge and wisdom of all you liars, cheats and rubber-shredders here. I expect to learn a lot!

Cheers,
Steve
