I have followed this forum for years because the Super Duke is my favorite bike. I started shopping for one a few months ago and found several 07-08 NEW left over units, I should have one in a couple of weeks. I was somewhat concerned with reading post by several SD Forum members, that brakes have been seizing up and causing accidents. I've been riding for 34 years and have never had brakes seize. Is this something common on the 07-08 models? Should I change the OEM pads immediately after I purchase this bike? I was told Ferodo is a fair replacement. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I REALLY don't want to have this on my mine while riding.
My current bikes are a naked SV1000, Speed Triple, and a R1. I will be selling the Triple and the R1 to make room for the new SD.
I look forward to speaking with all of you, I think this is the best bike forum on the web, people seem sincere and very knowledgeable.
Sincerely VOODOO

Siezing brake issue was mostly prevelant in the UK where those boys ride their bikes well into the winter months. The root cause was corrosion from road salt contamination (if I remember correctly). Not heard of any cases of this in the US.

Just saw this ... new to forums? No need to start more than one thread on the same subject, and give the search feature a try.

See response in the other thread you started.

Welcome. Yeh depending on where you are (no snow etc) you should be fine. The problem was that the
Austrians didn't take into account the salt. Those poor Brits with their shite weather have to have salt
on everything. Check out their culinary habits
