It amazes me they still have brand new '08 models for sale...
My first street bike was a Harley..
This is my first real street bike..IMO..
Been riding since I was 10...and finding it isn't anything like
dirt biking...Changing everything I instinctively know...
Enjoy.!!!

I feel like there are a lot of simmilarities and a lot of differences between this bike and a dirtbike. Riding feels very close to a dirtbike but the power, brakes and even clutch feel completely different. I really like the feel of this bike. Turning is the biggest difference. I am still new though. I just took it for a spin during lunch, I couldnt help myself. If I could work while sitting on the bike I would hahaha!
Yup 21! I cant believe it either. My daily driver is pretty bad ass too but getting 8mpg out of a built 408 stroker costs too much in gas. Especially since we just hit $4.05 a gallon the other day.
Here is my second baby.
2000 dakota r/t It would run 12s all day long if I caged it. But limited by no cage at the track so I cant wind it up all the way.

The bike is 100% stock other than the tyres and tune. I need to get another couple of pay checks before I put some exhaust on the bike. Even slip-on exhaust is so expensive for this bike. I thought the exhaust for my last 07 250sxf dirtbike was expensive at around $800 but GEEZ!
Its taken me 3 years to get the truck to that point in the picture. I did all of the body work and engine modification myself (other than machining and tranny building) So I hope to get sonewhat WILD with this SD eventually.
Real quick rather than starting a new topic, how do you guys remove the dumb tank warning sticker? I tried for about 20 minutes and i only managed to rip off all of the corners. Should I take a rubber eraser wheel to it like I would on a car?

Try removing the sticker with some heat (hair dryer for example).

The fuel air mix ratio is not right and could damage you pride and joy, I advise you go back to the dealer and put the original map on or buy some new cans ASAP.
You will get the same advantage and the correct fuel/air mix by having stock map and disabling the 2nd and 3rd gear sensors (full power mode) in the 3 pin plug at the side of your bike.

My bike has sort of bogged down like a 2 stroke once now. But to be fair I gave it a whole lot of throttle and was running a gear higher than I should have been. Just trying to get through the break in period nice and slow.
Last question I promise (in this introduction section. Not meaning to hijack just dont see the need to start a new topic) How many miles do you think I should put on before I am ready to hammer it? I am breaking it in how I always have with new bikes but I havent approached redline yet. Max engine speed so far that I am aware of has been in the high 6k range to mid 7k range.

Read the above.
Akra map adjusts the fueling and removes the 2nd and 3rd gear limiter for noise regs.
Akra map provides more fuel, OEM cans get hot anyway, and with all that extra fuel will burn even more and trash your cans, having physically opened them up they are full of various tubing and wadding to be fair you should get some cans just for weight saving!
Your dealer is a numpty and not surprised if it feels boggy.
I always mean to run in new pistons but always end up forgetting after 30 seconds but I would take it easy and if its your fis=rst bike you should do anyway.

Smell change is not surprising - the OEM maps are leaner, and will exploit the 02 sensors (closed loop feedback on A/F management).
Lately I've been getting all my OEM parts from these folks:
Great prices, accurate orders, and quick turn around. Downside: Their shipping prices aren't great ... but on more sizable orders, easily offset by their low parts prices.
That said, I don't know how good their KTM "PowerParts" accessories pricing is ... check it out.
