Hi All,
I just put a deposit on an '07 Super Duke, I have secretly loved these bikes from the first time I saw one. I wanted a v twin this time and so here I am.

So a little about me: I ride off road mostly since the ripe age of 7. I am a Triumph fanatic, however I sold my Speed Triple a few years ago but now want to get back on the street.

I do have a question already though. The bike I am buying had the engine rebuilt at around 12K miles. From what I know talking to the dealership where the bike was originally sold it was partially paid for by KTM ( a whopping $3k bill). It was for new pistons, gasket set, oil pump(s) etc. So it was basically new again at 12K. I must say I am a little concerned about it but the work was done by a KTM shop by a KTM trained mechanic. If anyone has any input as to what may have cause the issue (I know that is difficult) and if they would be concerned or not I would appreciate it. I looked at it like this, the bad thing is it had to be rebuilt, the good thing is it had to be rebuilt and is new again

Thanks!

A seven year old bike with zero miles on a motor. for sixty six hundred. You obviously know what to look for as far as used bike value and quality, I would not be too concerned. Most people on here have had gremlins or setbacks from all the ancillary equipment about the bike but little in regards to actuall engine failure. It is a smashingly wonderful road bike that rides swimmingly well. Pull the trigger and bite the bullet, its well worth a shot.

Welcome, and I agree, go for it. If the work is documented, then you have a basically new motor. That being said, I have seen really nice low miles bikes going for closer to $6k, but you'd have to wait, and if this one has the parts you want it's a great deal.

They are incredibly undervalued used bikes in my opinion, you can't go wrong. Put up a pic when you get the chance.

Seems odd that it has the black tank fairings with the orange tail and headlight fairings. Could be worth asking about (unless it comes with a set of orange tank fairings as well).
