Firstly great site and look forward to been on here every night.

Took the plunge today and p/x'd my Triumph 675 for a 2007 Superduke. Was recluctant at first as I basically only used the trumpet on track, but was missing the odd ride out with my mates and the missus. From what I have read the duke should hold its own against supersports 600's on track anyway??

I havn't even test rode one - but I dont suppose I wont like it. The only thing that is worring me is the seat height. I am 5' 8" and can just stand upright on the trumpet, but I read the seat height on a duke is 850mm. Will I fall off???

Just a few questions if anybody can help. The bike was registered in May 07, so would it have the larger 18l tank or the 15l ? It is not the very latest model, but I was wondering if there were any changes / improvements made from the original bike to the 07 model?

Can anybody advise me of the best place nearest Hull to get the bike serviced etc.??

Again, great to be here and looking forward to picking the bike up and getting used to naked riding.
Cheers
Nick

Welcome. I'm only 5'7" I can toe the ground on both feet. But it doesn't matter anyhow (anywho?) the bike nearly balances itself through the "thought command" of the rider. When you think about making it do something, somehow the bike picks up on instict and does it for you. I never thought I could ride as well as this bike lets me.

.....ps. don't think or the SuperDuke will likely misbehave with you. (happens alot)

Hi there and welcome to the forum!
The one in the pic is an 05/06 model, with the smaller 15l tank. Don't worry about that though, cos the older model is also apparently stronger!

A lot of the guys on this forum wouldn't change from that to the 07/08, they prefer the original 'wilder' one !

Can't recall exactly, but there were a few recalls for the model though, check with your dealer (when you find a good one) if they've been done on yours...

Congrats and no, you will not be riding slower on the road at ALL!

welcome dood,

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be up for a paragraph comparing the Adventure with teh SD when you bag it.

Better make friends with your local garage attendant, you'll be there twice as often soon enough!

Thanks guys!

ShadeTheChangingMan why you say that?
SD is somehow unreliable compared to the ADV?

cjc: whit the bike, none it's 9 months old only... but after test road a SD last weekend..... I want one!
Theres a few 2006 leftovers unplated over here so I'll try to exchange the ADV whit one of those and maybe get a few bling to the SD with that exchange...

Hi everyone!

Been reading the boards for quite some time now but never created an account. I must say i'm very impressed by the knowledge quite a few of you have when it comes to tuning, technical solutions and stuff. Very usefull for most of us and i'm very gratefull for sharing it with us/me. I hope i will be able to contribute in future as well.

About me: Dutch guy, 32 years old, married, 2 kids, lovely wife and riding bikes since 2000. The SD is my 3rd after a BMW 1100R and a SV650.

Love the bike. Planning to do several track days this year at the Belgium circuit Zolder. Very much looking forward to it (and to spring!).

Anyway, drive safe but fast (or vice versa)!

Get a bottle of wine, or a spliff, (or whatever your tipple is), and have a retrospective read through the threads. It's years worth of SD owners going through the trials and experience of owning this fantastic bike. You're in good company mate. And the more you read, the more you'll see that that the SD is a great bike - but has some inherent flaws that can be worked around and solved. All quite easily. But you will be asking the same questions that countless SD owners have asked before.

So the more you read up front - them more you'll get an idea of the things that you'll be wanting to know. And most of the answers are already out there! But feel free to ask because there will always be answers here.

Seems to me - and I've owned a lot of bikes and known a lot of bike owners - but the SD seems to attract a better sort of person, more knowledgeable, more sorted, more able to exchange views, more approachable. Just go and check out a GSX forum and be dismayed at the wanker/idiot type that frequent those places.

Enjoy the bike. You made the right decision.

PS, I used to live in Bedminster. Miss those easy routes out to good roads - especially Wales. Stuck in the smog here. Traffic light hell.

I'm from the uk and currently live in South Wales and the happy owner of a 06 SD which i got a few weeks back. I've had 64 bikes in the past 26 years and love my V twins and this baby rocks. I gave up road riding for 4 years and started enduro were I have owned a few KTM's 250 sxf, 250 exc,300 exc, 300 xc, 250 xcf, 400 excf and currently a 250 excf with the 280 kit which is the best of them all for hard style enduro, it climbs anything. Race in hare and hounds and time card enduro in the clubman class and usually be in the top 3, not to bad. I raced road bikes in Germany for a while too. I have to say I am a KTM nut and could'nt have any other make due to the amount of KTM clothing etc I have, luv em.
Paid £3250 for my duke with 15 k on the clock, luv the way it handles and and the noise with the Acra's on is awsome havent had a good long blast onit yet because of a few issues but I will post them in the technical section today.
Anyway this looks a great forum and look forward to being an active member.

Cheers
