· But I did post this on the MotorCycle news website....
Not Just for Loonies!
I've been searching for the 'right' bike for absolutely ages. Since 1973, to be perfectly candid. I've tried singles, Parallel Twins, Boxer Twins, V Twins and In-Line 4's. Many with fairings & go faster stripes. Some with wide bars and comfy seats. The uncomfortable ones were no fun under 100mph and the hairy homo upright ones were just so compromised in areas like handling - and so HEAVY... One attempt at satisfaction was the Duke2, but I'd been put off the '06 SD by its reputation as a stunt cock with Fugly front light and a tiny tank. When the latter two issues were addressed last year ('07) I succumbed to a number of winter tests... Where the biggest surprise was its 'fall in love with me' manners. Sure, it is capable of being ridden by a bonkers Frenchman - but it is also capable of being a perfectly normal, fun bike. And when it catches a superduperhypersports fascist on a back road (where pigs don't hang out) it is akin to being fighter Pilot running rings around an A380. Oh! - I take it into London where I can see over the top of the cars, filter ahead of the giggle of scooters - and arrive without a backache! (or a numb bum in the case of the Duke2)
Please don't steal it Mr. Robber! You took all the other half decent motorcycles I've ever owned.
& with that I say 'hello!'
