Hi Guyz,
I used to be a proud owner of an 07 Superduke but unfortunately mine turned out to be a lemon.
Well, lemon is because of the law but honestly the Dealer and KTM made the whole thing difficult. It started on 1st July 2008 when the gearbox got stuck on 6th and won't shift down. I was caught on the freeway banging the damn thing at 60mph. So I took it to the dealer in Marina Del Rey, California on 4th of July. By the way I'm from Los Angeles.
Restlessness and frustration grew upon me after waiting for 5 months with no update. It was unimaginable that KTM Customer Service in Ohio would not care for such a delay and they claimed that it was normal. I later happened to meet a friend of mine who explained to me about lemon law which many people do not know. He referred me to Jonathan Justman a lemon law specialist. We filed a lemon law suit and KTM had no other option but to buy the bike back from me. Finally after I got my check in Jan I paid a visit to the dealership to pick up all the aftermarket stuff, the mechanic who worked there told me that they managed to fix the bike only on the second week of Jan 2009. So KTM took 8 months to just replace a drum of some sort to fix this issue.
I wanted to warn you guys about this issue, about KTM OEM parts delay and above all the existence of a lemon law which states that a bike which cannot be fixed within 30 days is a lemon. Also about a lemon bike which would now be potentially on sale at the dealership.
I also have few aftermarket stuff that you guys might be interested. Will open a separate topic for that with pics and prices.
Cheers!!
