Hello. Picked up the SD-R about 2 months ago. Great bike! Also have 05 R1. Here a few pics of each. Any opinions on powder coating the wheels white on the R1? Could some one photoshop one of the photos for me?

Keep 'em black. Maybe a blue pinstripe on the wheels would good?

The SDR is a great bike isn't it? Had mine for only 9 days and I love it more than the prior 10 bikes I've had.

Welcome! Bikes look great! I have had wheels powder coated before and they look great. The finish was better than stock. I had to have the barrings removed at a shop for mine and also had the tyres taken off. I think it was about 75.00 per wheel for the coating.

I think if you like white then go for it! You will have to keep them clean but that will be easy because you won't be ridden that Yamaha very much now that you have an SDR!

Welcome dude...
What have you done to make it fit so far.???
In the mean time while waiting for a dyno tuner...
Tune ECU is a great way to go...There is a big thread on the topic..
Pretty inexpensive stuff...Buy a cable and the rest is FREE..!!

I put clipons on it and risers on the clipons. Looks pretty industrial but works great. I couldn't stand the upright position with the stock handlebars. Also I got some adapters for the rearsets to move them up and back. Now I just want to dig the seat out a bit so I don't keep sliding forwards. I've been reading up on the tuneecu and bought a cable from someone in the UK and it should be here soon . I need a place to work on it for that though and my apartments not keen on that.

Yeah like that. The setup consists of a cable that allows you to plug your bike into your computer and a program with which you can adjust fuel maps etc. Just google tuneecu. And thanks for the welcome.

Hey guys,

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now. Thanks for all the killer info.

I bought this bike a few weeks ago and have already started modding... After the first 500 mile weekend that is.

Mod list:
Full ti Akra headers and cans
MotoHooligans air box
KTM Twins SAS plates
Removed 2ndary throttle plates
Stomp tank pads
Carbon Front fender, rear hugger + chain guard, Seat cowl
Motovation frame sliders
KTM axle sliders
Custom tail tidy
Custom orange stickers
I have a good tune in it now but i still want to get it tuned professionally.

How i bought it:

Looks like a sweet Machin-a man ...

i'm not running those DB killers in the Akras . I don't find it obnoxious at all .
the only time i'm conscious of them is when i ride through main street in traffic. People do notice !

otherwise it's just "Bad on ya"

have fun -

and don't have a KTM as yet. Two other street bikes in my garage, a Ducati Monster 800 and a Triumph Speed Triple 1050.
I'm interested in the 990 Super Duke and want to know what are the more common issues with the bike. Anything known to fail/cause problems?
I've only ridden one once out in Colorado but its owner would not let me ride it over 6K so I didn't get to flog it.

Welcome and fwiw, I've got a 2010 model and have done 14,500km and it hasn't missed a beat
Even got 18km/l on it on a 250km ride over the weekend. Was with a group and they sat on the speed limit or less everywhere we went...
