Hi guys I'm new on here and new to the superduke experience.Been riding sports bikes since the mid ninetees,gsxr's,zx10,millie,exup's etc etc.Decided I fancied something different and been a fan of the duke since it was introduced I have made my mind up that I must have one.Been looking on ebay, autotrader, pistonheads for the last few weeks and now have the dosh ready to buy so is burning a hole in my pocket.Thing is I'm not 100% which model to go for.I do all my riding on the road here in Wales and have been reading a bit on here about the different models.I was looking at the R model but some of you recon I might be better off on the road with standard duke.Any help and advice will be appreciated, cheers guys.

See two R's on autotrader....on 07 and a 58 model both far from me ,both got same mileage ,the 07 has got nicer akros on it but is 18 months older for the same price near enough....whats your opinion guys...

07 SDR has less power, 08 has more power so go for 08 plus it keeps its value better.

You could flog the round akros for 350 on ebay and get the cans you want but be aware you can get 10 plate SDR's pre registered for about 8K.

Thanks again guys...much appreciated info.
I got to try my mates 07 R the other day and loved it but did find the suspension extremely hard ae Im only 150lbs in all my gear.Obviously the settings needed tweaking to suit but am I looking at the R version because of looks only and would I be better off with a standard superduke as I only intend on riding on the road.As Ive never ridden one I dont know but Im sure you guys will be able to point me in the right direction.

That ultimately is your call, SDR is a great road bike, but I found suspension harsh, but can be re sprung to suit and would be better, just the seat makes it a little harsh too. SD is better road bike IMO.

For road riding I don't think u can beat 05-06 bikes. Better looks, better geometry, more aggressive engine setup. They go for ever as I just had my engine apart with 44k miles on it and bores were like new.

IMO SDR is great if u like tracking it. They look great of course but I think you'd enjoy stardard more riding wise. Razy is selling his I believe?? Could be a good deal and you'd know history of bike. Samba's bike also.

Razy's bike has a few mods I think, PM him and he will tell you what it has 06 SD though.
