So I just traded my Ducati for a 2007 superduke , full akrapovic carbon every where and 1400 miles. I haven't even taken the bike home.
My question is, what to expect? Any known issue? I know the bike is fun. I even like the looks.
I'm in Manchester NH.
Thank you for your inputs .

Some folks complain of snatchy throttle response at low revs but this is mainly SDRs and is easily cured. Clutch slave can go as can water pump seals. You won't need to worry about either for a fair few thousand miles yet though.
Personally I'd whip the second flies and shafts out and turn off with TuneECU. Get a aftermarket airbox is you have the funds. There is a list of things to do here

My main concern is how smooth the bike is?
I need to start buying stuff right away, those mirrors are atrocious.

Paulo,
Welcome! www.ktmtwins.com is a good all around place to get things, but I usually look on this forum, see what people like, then google it and do an ebay search to find a better deal on the most expensive parts. If you want to look at KTM models and parts that aren't available in the US, this is a good site:
http://www.ktm-versand.de/index.php/lan ... 7dbddce67c . I bought my white body kit from them a few years ago.
The factory mirrors may not look stylish but they work well. I still haven't found a substitute that will look good and work as well as the stock mirrors, so I'm still using them. On my old Monster I had a beautiful looking set of Rizoma mirrors, but they were useless, and once I got this bike, I decided I was never going to deal with having poorly functioning mirrors again.
Judging by your name, you must've had a 749? What year? The bike that got me liking motorcycles was a 2005 749R my friend owned... it looked and sounded amazing! The $1200 valve adjustment it needed wasn't too nice, but every bike seems to have some kind of glitch.

I had 2004 749 with was a huge step up from my 2001 748, confort and speed wise.
Ducatis are a work of art but they need to. E threat like queens, no joke the bike has a temper. The valves every two to three years $1200, the parts so pricey. If you keep them they are incredible my issue was confort, also one track day a year doesn't justify having a race bike, it does have lights but they are an after thought.
Like I said earlier I never owned any other brand so I'm nervous about this purchase.

SDs can be a little tempermental as well. However, all of the issues are well documented here and cost very little to sort out ini comparison to Ducatis. The SD fraternity on this site will help sort you out as issues arise.
Still consider mine the funnest bike I've ever owned (and I've owned just about everything). Was just showing a herd of Jap litre bikes and Italian/German superbikes the quick way round Chuckwalla last Friday so they are no slouches on the track either (as long as there are no super long straights).
Put your mind at ease and enjoy your purchase...I highly doubt you'll regret it (comfort alone is worth the price of admission).

Loved the bike, first impressions where excellent. There where two issues : killed two batteries, had one put on the night before, whent for my test ride came back sit the bike down to put my gloves in, bike wouldn't start, same to the second. Looks like the charger isn't working.
The acceleration (throde I believe is spelled) is like a swith a bit of play then all hell breaks lose.
The akrapovics sound incredible, love them , it will take me some time to adapt to the riding position .

Got a new White '08 with 33 miles on it from NOR-Cal Motorsports in Elk Grove, CA.
Goes nicely with my 05' Honda RC51.
Have a 02' Honda VFR with ABS also.
Hope to break this baby in nicely.
How necessary is the initial 600 mile valve adjustment?
